Action For Conservation

Action For Conservation To us, being a ‘conservationist’ or ‘environmentalist' doesn't just mean following a career as a field biologist or a campaigner.

Action for Conservation is a UK youth environmental action charity that inspires and empowers young people aged 12-18, from diverse backgrounds across the UK, to become the next generation of environmental leaders. We believe that a passion for nature can flow through anyone's life, whatever their day job. We inspire today's young people to a long-term belief in the wonder of the natural world, which will shape their dreams and actions however their life turns out.

The Action for Conservation Programmes Team (swipe across to meet them) recently collaborated with to learn all about the art of upcycling! 🪲🛠️

This hands-on training will help us to deliver even more exciting, practical workshops in schools, youth groups, and with our Ambassadors across England and Wales. 🌍

Harry from the Woodshop of Recycling Delights CIC delivered amazing specialist training focused on tool use and working with reclaimed timber. 🎉🪵🪑

From mastering drill techniques, using hand tools to breaking down pallets and transforming old wood into planters and benches, the session provided our team with the confidence and skills to support young people to get hands-on and creative in their communities. ☀️🔨

We can’t wait to take these skills out into communities and get more young people restoring nature, creating habitats, and learning by doing! 💪

Meet Connor, aged 12 from London 🌿

He first joined the Action for Conservation (AFC) Summer Camps in 2025, spending time in nature, getting stuck into hands-on conservation activities, and making new, amazing friends. 🦇

What started out as a chance to spend time outdoors has become something more meaningful.⭐

Now an AFC Ambassador, Connor is taking positive action for nature alongside his peers and inspiring more young people to get involved. 🌿

📖 Read his blog to discover his story ➡️ https://www.actionforconservation.org/blog/inspired-by-nature-connors-story

There is just one day left to donate to our Time in Nature campaign. You'll be supporting more young people, like Connor, to step out into nature.

🎧️ We could talk about what nature means to young people. But it’s better to hear it from them. 🌿

Take a break and press play on this immersive soundscape where you can listen to their stories, you can find the full video on our YouTube channel ▶️ 🎶

You'll hear young people from our programmes share what nature means to them, reflecting on time spent in woodlands, near rivers, and on beaches.⭐

This April, you can help make more of this possible. Our Big Give campaign aims to raise £75,000 for vital programmes. From 22nd to 29th April, all donations will be doubled, meaning twice the impact for young people and nature.

This term 25, year 7 students from The Excelsior Academy in London have been exploring nature and the environment through our WildED programme, where nature-based learning takes centre stage 🐝

With AFC’s Programme Coordinator Chloe, students have been discovering habitats across their school grounds, identifying plant and animal species, and mapping what they find 🪶. Next up is an exciting action day!

🌿 Then, students will design and implement their own ideas to improve their school grounds for nature, their community, and themselves.
