Action For Conservation To us, being a ‘conservationist’ or ‘environmentalist' doesn't just mean following a career as a field biologist or a campaigner.

Action for Conservation is a UK youth environmental action charity that inspires and empowers young people aged 12-18, from diverse backgrounds across the UK, to become the next generation of environmental leaders. We believe that a passion for nature can flow through anyone's life, whatever their day job. We inspire today's young people to a long-term belief in the wonder of the natural world, which will shape their dreams and actions however their life turns out.

Winter Mission Britain has begun! Harv, Seamus and Tom have set off on their adventure running around Britain’s coastline through the depths of winter. 🤘🏻

They'll travel 5,240 miles, with 84,000 metres of elevation in just 180 days, carrying all their kit with them and sleeping wherever they stop! ⛺

Harv, Seamus and Tom will push through near impossible endurance challenges in the middle of winter to raise awareness of the impacts of climate change right here at home and showcase how incredible the UK's landscapes truly are! 🌍

A few weeks ago, the Action for Conservation team spent a week exploring the Bannau Brycheiniog (Brecon Beacons) National Park. ✨

Staying at the home of the Penpont Project with our amazing friends Penpont, the team came together to reflect on the summer and plan the year ahead and spend time connecting with nature 📝🐛

We canoed down rivers, spotting kingfishers and dippers; hiked through hillsides, catching the last of the butterflies and the beginning of the fungi season. We were also lucky enough that AFC's Youth Trustee, Callum, was able to join us, to teach us all about wool and weaving 🍄🧶

The team also volunteered in Penpont's Tree Nursery and Walled Garden, collecting windfall apples, preparing the beds for the next season, building benches and caring for the growing saplings.🌱

It was an incredible week, and we can’t wait for you to see what we're planning!

We are thrilled to announce that the Penpont Project is one of the Gold Award Winners at the 2026 🎉

We are so excited to accept the Wild World: Recover, Regenerate, Rewild Award on behalf of everyone involved in the Penpont Project - human and non-human alike! 🌿 🦉

To have our intergenerational nature restoration efforts recognised on a global stage alongside so many other inspiring projects is an incredible achievement.

It’s a wonderful reminder that involving young people in nature recovery matters - for the future of nature and the communities we're a part of. 💚

Thank you so much to Global Good Awards and congratulations to all the amazing projects, programmes and organisations recognised at this year's awards!

Are you passionate, energetic and aged between 18-24, from the ( ) or surrounding areas? Then we want to hear from you! Apply and join us for a 16-week, paid rangership at the Penpont Estate near Brecon.🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿

This is a fantastic opportunity to work alongside the Penpont Project partnership, including the Action for Conservation and teams, as well as local farmers, ecologists and the Youth Leadership Group. 🐝

This is an opportunity to learn vital nature restoration, forestry and regenerative land-based skills. In addition, you’ll gain experience engaging with the local community and have the chance to lead your own interest project with the Penpont landscape acting as your field lab!🪲🦋🍂

The community garden at BYC is now complete, thanks to the creativity and hard work of young people, local residents and partners who came together to revamp a space that supports both people and nature. 🪏🪴🐝

Designed through Action for Conservation's education programme, , the garden was created alongside gardening consultant Becca Mann (Your garden coach) who supported young people to design the space using permaculture principles. 🌱

It is now home to pollinator-friendly flowers, edible herbs, fruiting plants, a reclaimed Belfast sink pond, log piles and bee hotels made from recycled timber groynes donated by Brighton & Hove City Council (Brighton & Hove City Council), and Mackley!🪶

💬“This project made me realise that there’s a lot I can do myself to help nature,” said Percy, 15.
