In Geeta’s Himalayan village, the daily struggle for water was once an exhausting barrier to progress.

Everything changed in January 2025 when Frank Water visited Geeta’s village. Geeta became a water guardian, mastering the science of water to revive her local spring. She and her water committee dug trenches to harvest rain, restoring a steady flow of crisp water from the spring in just six months.

Thanks to your generosity, Geeta finally has time: time to earn an income, learn new skills, and build a future that once felt out of reach.

By donating to Frank Water you can help us to revive more springs and help more women like Geeta unlock their futures.

The theme of this year’s World Environment Day is climate change.

We are noticing more and more the extreme temperatures and weather events caused by climate change. But water has such an important role in the fight against it.

When water is restored to a landscape, soils and wetlands regain their ability to store carbon, ecosystems become more resilient and rivers are better able to withstand heat waves, droughts, and floods so life can flourish around them.

In rural communities in India, myths and superstitions about periods can hold women and girls back from enjoying daily life.

Many of these superstitions stem from notions of impurity, and some girls are told that food will turn bad or babies will get sick if touched whilst menstruating.
Even worse, taboos can mean that girls don’t learn about periods at all, leaving them desperately fearful.

This Menstrual Hygiene Day, we’re joining millions joining together for a .

Frank Water tackles the stigma associated with periods and raises awareness of good menstrual hygiene so women and girls can have happy, safe periods that don’t hold them back.

In Uttarakhand, Frank Water is working alongside mountain communities to revive drying Himalayan springs that many families depend on for drinking water, farming and daily household needs.

A technique our communities are using is the A-frame method to draw contour lines across mountain slopes before digging contour trenches.

An A-frame is made from three wooden or bamboo poles tied together in the shape of an ‘A’, with a string and small stone hanging from the top as a plumb line. It works like a compass. By marking points at the same height along the land, trenches can be dug in the correct locations to slow rainwater runoff and help percolate underground.

While the A-frame itself is a traditional technique long used in farming, communities are now proactively adapting it as part of spring rejuvenation efforts in the Himalayan villages.

We all know that clean hands are essential for health, but when water is scarce and there's no soap available, it's hard to stay safe from disease.

At Frank Water we share the importance of hand hygiene globallywith handwashing workshops in primary schools and with frontline workers. A simple action that saves lives.

By donating to Frank Water you are providing safe water, good hygiene and clean toilets to those who need it most.

Water is not just a victim of climate change, it fuels the fight against it. Landscapes enriched by water are healthier and are able to absorb more carbon dioxide, mitigating the impacts of climate change.

Support our Crowdfunder to stand alongside the grassroot guardians of water in conversations with industries impacting their water quality and availability.
Your gift can help to revive a landscape by restoring water.
