It was brilliant to be at a special screening of the second series of Rivals at Everyman Cinema in Bristol last week.

Rivals cast Katherine Parkinson and Annabel Scholey, the creative team from Happy Prince, Helen Godwin, Mayor of the West of England, Royal Television Society Bristol and BCI member The Bottle Yard Studios hosted a special screening and panel, in celebration of the regional impact of production in the area. The panel was hosted by TV presenter Angellica Bell.

Production of the hit Hulu Original series, based on Dame Jilly Cooper’s beloved Rutshire Chronicles, is based at The Bottle Yard Studios (TBYS) in Bristol.

95% of the locations featured in the series were filmed within a 30-mile radius of TBYS, across Bristol, Bath and North East Somerset, South Gloucestershire and North Somerset, all supported by a network of film offices across the West of England.

Young Sherlock, Guy Ritchie’s new blockbuster series, is now on Amazon Prime.

The eight-part show was part-filmed on location across Bristol for five months with the city doubling as 1870s Oxford.

Broad Street was a primary location. It was transformed into a bustling period street adorned with 19th century shopfronts for an assortment of traders including florists, butchers, barbers, taxidermists and printers. See behind the scenes filming pics from Dominic Parker below.

Other Bristol locations included Small Street, All Saints Lane, Corn Street, Portland Square, Queen Square, Frog Lane, Underfall Yard, The Georgian House Museum and Bristol Cathedral and Choir School.

Happy Bristol spotting when you watch the series and find out more about the Bristol filming in a post by BCI member Bristol Film Office: https://bristolcreativeindustries.com/bristol-helps-set-the-scene-for-guy-ritchies-young-sherlock/
