There’s something amazing about watching someone do something they didn’t think they could

Not because it was easy

But because we’ve worked towards it
built your confidence
and discovered what your body can do

That’s the good stuff 💚

The voice you speak to yourself with matters

When I’m training a woman on a new lift - something that feels BIG like a back squat, often she’ll look at the bar and say:

“I can’t do that.”

I remind her what we’ve rehearsed
What she can do
And then she does it

Because over the years I’ve learned to speak to myself in the same way

I used to race with this voice in my head:
You’re s**t
Everyone else is faster than you
Stronger than you
They look better than you

Unsurprisingly, it got terrible results 😂

Now the voice sounds more like:
“Okay, this is the tough bit”
“Actually, you’re halfway through already”
“Just two lengths to go”
“God, this is hard…but you’re on the last lap”

I count up, I count down

I rehearse so that when I get there, my brain is switched on and I know exactly what I’m doing

And that’s the voice I use for you in our sessions too

Because one day that voice will become your own
