Friends of the Barton Hill Youth Club A community campaign seeking the best possible future for the Barton Hill Youth Club aka the Dugout.

08/06/2026

We recently hosted a public consultation to share some of our plans for the building formerly known as the Dugout at 63 Barton Hill Rd. Thanks to all who attended and completed our feedback questionnaire!

We realise not everyone could attend and wanted to open up the opportunity for as many of the local community as possible to share thoughts, so the plans and questionnaire are now available on our website (link in the comments)

All feedback is welcomed 🙏

DUGOUT & BARTON HILL BOXING CLUB UPDATE

In an update recently shared by Wellspring Settlement through their social media channels, it has been shared that the Dugout, aka George Wills Building, has been sold to a local charity called Cherry Orchards (Camphill) Ltd., who will be working with Wild Dandelion CIC, who are an existing tenant at the Settlement.

Cherry Orchards (Camphill) Ltd. describe their mission as being “For the public benefit, to reduce sickness, promote good health, provide care to and advance the education and training of people with disabilities (whether mental or physical), while supporting those otherwise in need through the principles of community-based support systems.”

Wild Dandelion describe their mission as being “Dedicated to serving our community through a holistic approach to wellbeing, therapy and education using sustainable practices. And are committed to involving the community in the development of the building.”

The organisations plan to continue to use the building and land “for the benefit of the local community”.

There are no plans to demolish, or greatly alter, the building and the land.

The Barton Hill Boxing Club have found a new home nearby in Lawrence Hill, in a premises that is owned by the City Academy.

The Barton Hill Boxing Club are most appreciative of the support that the City Academy have given to them in their search for a new premises, and are now asking for any sponsors for the Boxing Club in its new home.
