Would you believe that the Dugout has its own urban legend?

If you would like to find out more about what this legend is, then feel free to come along to an interesting talk that is being led by the Barton Hill History Group, this Wednesday, at the St. Anne’s Board Mill Social Club.

HISTORY GROUP EVENTS

There are two meetings being led by the Barton Hill History Group taking place this week for anyone with an interest in local history.

The first meet is the monthly Memory Café, which will take place this Tuesday, 10:30am, at the Wellspring Settlement.

This meet is free to attend and teas and coffees are provided.

The second event is an evening talk which will be the first of its kind, covering ghost stories and local myths and urban legends of Barton Hill and East Bristol.

This talk will be taking place on Wednesday, 7:30pm, at the St. Anne’s Board Mill Social Club, on Avonvale Road.

Admission is £1.50 for History Group members, £3.00 for non-members.

Here are a selection of photos taken during the clean-up around the George Wills Building / The Dugout yesterday afternoon.

I thought that all of the spray cans had been found during previous clean-ups? Evidently, a few had been missed. One appears to have even been signed?

Half a large Bristol Waste bin bag full of litter was also collected, the majority being small bits of plastics dug up during overgrowth removal. Some crisp packets and cans found dated back to the early 2000s.

We recently hosted a public consultation to share some of our plans for the building formerly known as the Dugout at 63 Barton Hill Rd. Thanks to all who attended and completed our feedback questionnaire!

We realise not everyone could attend and wanted to open up the opportunity for as many of the local community as possible to share thoughts, so the plans and questionnaire are now available on our website (link in the comments)
