Phew - what a start to Loneliness Awareness Week that has been! 💛
We are overwhelmed with the response across the world from people wanting to connect and speak openly about loneliness and its impact on people and society.
It all started on Monday with a launch event at the House of Commons where we were joined by people from across the sector as well as speakers Stephanie Peacock MP, Alex McIntyre MP, Paul Davies, Lara Rodwell from The Lonely Club, and Boudewijn Haarsma from our wonderful sponsors The HEINEKEN Company - who all pledged to Give Loneliness A Voice.
The launch saw the publication of our 10th Years Report - including recommendations for future action that we led with partners from the Policy Action Group.
Our Campaign Manager Hannah Beatrice had to leave the event slightly early to talk to BBC London about loneliness - joined by Georgie Cox - and our Founder Amy Perrin OBE was interviewed by Ella Schweiger for her Kindness Community on Cromwell Green.
Meanwhile Tara Fisher FIEP visited the Chatty Cabins at Transport for London’s Cable Cars where she met Londoners wanting to connect, and Campaign Assistant Helena Toole - along with Marketing Executive Gunjan Jain and Fundraising Assistant Rosie Jacobs - went to To***co Factory Theatres for a knitting event.
In the evening landmarks lit up orange to mark the launch of the week - including Ashton Gate, Edinburgh City Chambers, Stormont Parliament Buildings and The Kelpies - and Hannah Beatrice joined the team at We Are Kindred for a connection dinner to raise funds for Marmalade Trust.
And that was all just on Monday! Rest of the week's round-up coming soon. 👀
A huge thank you to everyone helping give loneliness a voice this week, we can’t wait to see what the rest of the week brings ✨
