At Sunday Assembly we want to do the same thing that churches do (so help people and their communi
ties). The difference is that we don't have any, well, religion. So we’ve swapped sermons for talks from academics or charities, hymns for pop songs, and communion with tea and cake. But that doesn't mean we're an Atheist Church. It means that we just don't talk about religion or the supernatural. If you work in an office, there might be a rule saying "No football or politics talk" because it doesn't lead to a pleasant working environment. Sunday Assembly is a bit like that with religion. We want everyone to be welcome, and we want to celebrate and improve the life we have. If there’s another life then that’s great! So you won’t hear anything positive or negative about religion, because it can be something that divides us, and we want to unite people. What does our motto, “Live Better, Help Often, Wonder More” mean then? Live Better. We aim to provide inspiring, thought-provoking and practical ideas that help people to live the lives they want to lead and be the people they want to be
Help Often. Assemblies are communities of action building lives of purpose, encouraging us all to help anyone who needs it to support each other
Wonder More. Hearing talks, singing as one, listening to readings and even playing games helps us to connect with each other and the awesome world we live in. We hold monthly assemblies in the Trinity Centre in Bristol. We have occasional extra events, check those out in the Event tab. All events are free
