Creative Communities turns 11!
(Poem written by Andy Eisenträger)

It's been 11 years since our very first Rising Voices session. What began as a single choir back in 2014 has grown into a community of five weekly groups: Oi Polloi, Trinity Centre Move On Group, Changing Tunes Beginners Music, Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra Bristol Recovery Orchestra , and Rising Voices . We now have around 50 members, including some who've been with us since the very beginning!

From our first performance in the cemetery at Brunswick Square with just a handful of choir members to selling out The Lantern Hall at Bristol Beacon, it's been an such an amazing journey.

"It's amazing to think that we were terrified to sing to 10 BDP people back in 2014!

Since then we've sung our way through big life events in our community - births, deaths, recovery triumphs and lapses.

During covid we held online Zoom choir sessions, met up for walks and singing in Brunswick graveyard.

And performances! - SS Great Britain, Parliament Square, Newport Cathedral, Circomedia, Trinity, the Beacon... we're bloody amazing, and only request tea & biscuits for our rider!!"

Robin - Rising Voices Member that joined in 2014

What a dream! Still reeling from 's wind and brass section playing a song with the mighty on Sunday night at . Trinity is our rehearsal home, but this was a completely different thing and we loved being part of their epic sound.

Thank you to everyone in the band for having us, for being so generous and for giving us the space to speak about why there's a space in the music world for the recovery orchestra and . It's an experience we'll never forget - but hopefully won't be the last!

Was also reassuring to be in a building full of lots of people we know and who know us - big shout out to and who have both worked with us before, and put in awesome sets on the night.
