On Friday from 10am, join the Bristol Apartheid Free-Zone for a shop canvassing day as we continue building support for Palestine 🇵🇸

This isn’t just about speaking to shops – it’s about building relationships, having conversations, and building a stronger movement across our communities. Every household sign-up strengthens support for local shops to take action and increases our collective ability to hit back against the apartheid regime ✊

You do not need experience to get involved. Whether it’s your first time or you’ve joined us before, there will be support and experienced people to team up with. Come along, meet others, learn more about the campaign, and be part of something bigger.

Movements grow through people taking part. Join us on Friday and help us turn solidarity into collective action.

Join the Bishopston/ Ashley Down WhatsApp chat for more details 🇵🇸

On Monday the 4th May, BAFZ called for continued solidarity with the Flotillas and Palestine by coming out and taking part in a community Door-Knock in St George.

As most of you will know, on Thursday the 30th April, the Global Sumud Flotilla were intercepted and captured by the IDF. One of our own, Benn – an organiser within BAFZ - was on the Flotilla at the time and was also captured.

Benn has since been able to return safely home and came out to join us and tell us about the appalling treatment he received from to IDF and the lack of support from the British Government.

What stood out was how the IDF were unable to break the spirits of those captured. Benn is as enthusiastic as he has ever been, and ready to get back on the Flotilla and support the freedom of Palestine!

A number of our local MPs are still refusing to make clear and definite statements as to illegality and inhumane treatment of those who have risked their lives to break the siege of Gaza. A siege which is continuing to have untold effects on the Palestinian people.

Our aim was to bring this to the attention of Benn’s community and raise awareness of the lack of action by the British Government and the people elected to support the individuals of the community they claim to represent. We had a great turn out with lots of support from the community in which Benn lives.

We asked Benn’s neighbours to sign and send a letter to Benn’s local MP Kerry McCarthy to ask: “Why did Benn and other captured members of the flotilla receive such little support from the British state, following their illegal capture?”

We also demand that, in her powers as an MP for Bristol East, she commits to full support for the remaining flotilla boats, for the release of Thiago and Saif, and for any other members who the IDF capture.

We are also asking you to send the same letter!
