We're so excited to update you all that Will, Gwen and friends' completed their Old Trafford one mile run on Monday in memory of their cousin, sister and friend, Freya.💞

When Freya was diagnosed with a rare form of cancer, Young Lives vs Cancer's specialist social worker, Ffion was right there. It was her trademark care, guidance and compassion that carried the family through their darkest days. Freya sadly passed away in 2025, aged 9 after a devastating journey of heartache, love and courage.

Kate, Freya’s mum said, “Freya loved Manchester United like she loved her family, but she also loved gymnastics, running around chasing her cousin and sister, and was fiercely competitive. She dreamed big, so Old Trafford, the Theatre of Dreams was the perfect place for Will, Gwen and their friends to take on the mile in her memory.”

We really can't thank Jason at Manchester United enough for taking the time to organise this and making the day one to remember for the family. 🫶☺️

Will said he wanted to fundraise "so children with cancer and their families would have a place to stay like we did and help them when they are sad."

Everyone say good luck to the wonderful Will who will be running 1 mile around Old Trafford on Monday! 🤩

Devastatingly, Will lost his dear cousin, Freya to cancer last year. Freya was a kind and courageous girl and it's with that same kindness and courage that Will, Gwen, Freya's sister and their friends have chosen to support Young Lives vs Cancer.

Will's love for Old Trafford began as a real family-affair, where they'd go to watch their favourite team, Man Utd play. More than that though, it's a place that brought their family together over the years which makes this challenge deeply personal and special. It's now a place to remember Freya and continue her strength. ❤️‍🩹🌟

We’re reaching out to people in Wales who have been affected by cancer to invite you to take part in a short survey.

Your experiences, whatever they may be, are incredibly important to us. By sharing your story, you’ll help us better understand what life has been like for you and your family, and how support you received has made a difference. Your voice will directly shape a future funding application to The National Lottery Community Fund in Wales, helping ensure it truly reflects the needs of families like yours.

We know some questions may bring up difficult memories, so please only share what feels right for you. Every response, no matter how much or how little you choose to tell us, will help us continue to improve the support we offer.

Mum Leila has just completed one huge challenge to give back so that other children and young people can continue to receive the much needed support they need when being diagnosed with cancer.

She took on Hadrian's Wall Ultramarathon - that is 70 miles in 24 hours! Unbelievable, strength, grit and determination which left Leila broken but smiling. This is her "why".

" Still a bit sore, I had a few injuries before I started so i'm chuffed to bits that i finished it, but my "why" was big, my reason for doing it, i was absolutely determined to finish it. My feet are like they belong on a hobbit so not very pretty after losing a few toenails.

You guys made such a huge difference to our lives, Georgia is just a really amazing person, she's now on the last 7 weeks of her Mental Health Nursing degree and I really believe that Rachel had a positive impact on Georgia's life and we as a family will be forever grateful.

Raising this money for Young Lives vs Cancer is my way of paying your kindness and support forward. Huge thanks to Rachel."

Scott and Finn have certainly pushed the boundaries of Wales in completing the Welsh 3000s in an epic 17 hours and 14 mins!

The challenge went a little bit like this...
54km of difficult terrain
4100m ascent
15 peaks above 3000ft
Yr Wyddfa (Snowdon), the highest peak in England and Wales
Technical scrambles including Crib Goch and Tryfan
3 mountain ranges across the Snowdonia National Park

Being apart of the Universities of Wales Air Squadron means they have plenty of gruelling training regimes but this was their biggest by far.

Not only did they complete the challenge under 24 hours they also went onto to raise an incredible £1445 to support children and young people facing their toughest time with a diagnosis of cancer.
