Little Hero Little Hero-Fighting Childhood Brain Tumours! Little Hero was set up in memory of our little boy Will, who sadly died on valentines day.

They are the biggest cause of childhood deaths in the UK, yet receive less than 1% of UK research funding into cancer.

We recently welcomed 2 year old Maeve to Will's Woodland. Maeve was diagnosed with acute myeloid leukaemia at just 11 weeks old. She was initially taken to ICU due to her health deteriorating where she suffered a stroke, renal failure, and a collapsed lung. After receiving four rounds of chemotherapy she had her end of treatment biopsy and they found that her leukaemia had relapsed. Maeve then had to undergo further chemotherapy and have a bone marrow transplant. The wonderful news is Maeve is now in full remission!! After such an incredibly difficult journey for her and her family we were so thrilled to meet her and her family and see her enjoying all Will's Woodland had to offer 💕

As many of you know, John works with a number of children’s cancer charities to continue the fight against childhood cancer in Will’s memory. He has recently been able to contribute, as a bereaved parent, to this important publication.

The paper is a collaborative review on advancing therapeutic development for paediatric medulloblastoma. It highlights the importance of bringing together researchers, clinicians, charities and families with lived experience to improve outcomes for children.

As bereaved parents, our voices and experiences matter. While we would never choose this path, sharing what we’ve learned can help shape research, influence care, and give hope to future families. It means so much to know that, through work like this, Will’s legacy can continue to make a difference for children diagnosed with this disease.

We recently welcomed 18 year old Micaella to Will's Woodland. Micaella was diagnosed with bone cancer in her left leg last year. She has had to undergo surgery to remove the tumour and many rounds of chemotherapy. It was lovely to see the family enjoying Will's Woodland together after such a difficult year 💛

We wanted to say a huge huge thank you to Winslade who very kindly donated two teeny cows to Will's Woodland to help us manage the never ending lawn mowing! We had the most wonderful surprise when we discovered a new born calf in the field! Rosie the calf is now a wonderful addition to Will's Woodland menagerie and keeps the children entertained with her incredibly naughty antics. We recently welcomed 4 year old Adam to Will's Woodland. Adam was diagnosed with Wilms Tumour last year June and has had to undergo surgery and multiple rounds of chemotherapy, which resulted in the removal of his kidney. It was lovely to see Adam and his little sister enjoying all Wills Woodland had to offer after such a difficult journey 💙

This weekend we welcomed Daisy to Will's Woodland. Daisy was diagnosed with Hepatoblastoma in April this year and has had to undergo treatment at such a young age. It was lovely to be able Daisy and her parents a little break from reality amongst the beautiful autumn colours 🍁
