Carers Support is an independent charity formed in 1997 which provides support, information and advice to unpaid carers of any age living in the Bristol and South Gloucestershire areas. We have more than 12,000 local carers registered with us and deliver our services with 40 (full t

Our range of services includes a confidential telephone information and advice line, carers’ magazine, Carers Emergency Card, one-to-one casework support, carers’ groups, activities for carers to take time out, regular breaks and training courses. We also work to identify and support carers in hospital and GP settings through our health team and support carers to get into – and stay in – employment. CURRENT OPENING TIMES FOR CARERSLINE:
Monday to Friday: 10am – 1pm
Monday to Thursday: 2pm – 4pm

(Closed on Bank Holidays)

CarersLine is our confidential information and support service for carers in Bristol and South Gloucestershire. You can contact us with any questions or concerns that you have, to do with your caring role. Fill in the contact form and we will get back to you by the next working day

We’re sharing an opportunity that may be relevant to some people in our community.

A postgraduate researcher from the University of Exeter is looking to speak with people aged 30+ who supported someone as a young person.

The study is exploring how caring earlier in life can shape identity and adulthood.

Taking part would involve a confidential one‑to‑one online conversation (around 45–60 minutes), at a time that works for you.

There’s no expectation to take part — but if it feels like something you’d be comfortable doing, it’s an opportunity to reflect on your experience and contribute to a better understanding of caring.

If busy environments can feel overwhelming, this might be worth knowing.

The SS Great Britain runs CALM sessions — quieter, more relaxed visits designed to make it easier to explore at your own pace.

And importantly: carers go free.

This can make it a bit easier to plan a visit or spend time out together, without added pressure.

Thank you to everyone who joined us for Caring Matters 2026 💚

It was great to bring carers together during Carers Week — to take some time out, connect with others, and focus on health and wellbeing.

From practical sessions to informal conversations, the day was all about creating space where carers felt understood and supported.

A big thank you to everyone who came along, as well as our speakers, partners and volunteers who helped make it happen.

Young carers from across Bristol and South Gloucestershire stepped away from the classroom today for a special Carers Week experience 💙

Around 120 young carers, along with school staff and young carers leads, visited We The Curious and the SS Great Britain. The trips offered a chance to learn, explore and spend time together in a supportive environment.

For many young carers, opportunities like this are rare. Balancing school with caring responsibilities can impact time, wellbeing and access to activities – so days like this really matter.

A huge thank you to our partners for helping make this possible and creating such a welcoming experience.

Great to be at Bristol Royal Infirmary for Carers Week, sharing information about the support available for carers.

Thank you to everyone who stopped by for a conversation—we really value the chance to connect, listen, and raise awareness of the vital role carers play.

Pleased to be working alongside University Hospitals Bristol and Weston NHS Foundation Trust to make sure carers are recognised and supported.

Carers Week has started with new research looking at what makes a community truly supportive for carers.
It highlights something many carers already know — that feeling understood and valued in everyday life can make a real difference.
The research found that:

*almost half of carers don’t feel their role is understood
* for some, that lack of support affects their health

We’ve shared more about the report — and how local events like Caring Matters and our recent nature walk session help create spaces where carers feel recognised and supported.
