Urgent announcement!

Effective immediately, 2124 squadron is stood down until further notice!

This is something that is out of the hands of the staff and cadets, whilst we appreciate this is a sudden and upsetting announcement, we hope this does not last long and that will be able to return to training as soon as possible.

On Thursday evening, the cadets practiced their radio knowledge.

As part of the basic "First Class" training all cadets undertake, they are taught about the basics of radio communication. Whilst they don't get to practice it often, they do occasionally get a chance to show off what they have learnt. How? By playing battleships!

This allows the cadets to practice with radios, and is a firm favourite of the cadets as well.

Thank you to OC 2494 Portishead Sqn ATC for supporting.

In other news, staff have been busy getting some final preparations in place for our recruitment evening, in which we are all looking forward to meeting everyone!

Last night, the cadets were practicing their sowing skills!

Sowing is an important skill and something the cadets need to know in order to properly take care of their uniform.
The night was planned, and run, by the cadet NCO's, and supervised by staff.

Whilst we're here, we have an open evening coming up where, if you are interested in joining, can find out all about our squadron and organisation! We will be posting more details about that in the next few days.

✨2026 kicks off✨

After a long break over Christmas, 2124 reopened on the 8th of January, with big plans for the year ahead.

The cadets started the year with the standard Health and Safety, and climatic injuries, brief before discussing what the cadets themselves want to get out of the year. A long discussion was held between the staff and cadet NCOs, all of which gave us a good idea of how to plan our programme for the year.

We even had a couple of 2124 join the Road Marching team on Sunday!

It's been a busy week and we have no plans on slowing down. We also have an update for an open night coming soon, so watch this space!

That's a wrap on 2025!

Whilst we didn't get any pictures of tonight's Fish and Chip night (the staff team aren't very social media savvy but we plan to change that in the new year), we did manage to capture this special moment from Monday!
We were extremely proud to promote a new Sergeant and 2 new Corporals.

As we are now finished with 2025 we would like to thank everyone who has supported 2124 over the last year, it has been extremely valuable to us. We'd also like to say thank you to the cadets for being as amazing as always.

As we look towards 2026, we're excited for what's to come in the Air Cadets 85th year!

See you all in January.

*Reminder*

The deadline for remembrance parade is this evening!

It is the one event that we ask all cadets to attend if possible. All 2124 cadets are eligible to sign up. If there are any issues or questions please get in touch.

27/10/2025

Please remember if you are going to be absent for any reason, it must be put onto cadet portal.

With half term now upon us (for most people), we understand a lot of cadets may be spending the week away. If this is the case, or for any other reason, please notify us *ON CADET PORTAL* as this is the official channel.

We ask this so we are able to adapt our training based on what the numbers will be in good time.

Have a good half term everyone! 😁

Glitter, bright lights and lots of dancing. It can only be that time of year...

On Friday evening cadets from 2124 squadron, plus support from 1860 Squadron - East Bristol Air Cadets and 2494 Portishead Sqn ATC, helped run one of our biggest community engagement events of the year, the SHINE night walk.

Cadets were responsible for guiding participants to the start, making candle bags, helping with enquiries, handing out medals at the finish line, and lots of bad dancing.

As always the cadets were professional and efficient with all tasks asked of them and the event staff had nothing but nice things to say.

As one of our more casual events, it offered a chance for the cadets to get involved with the community as well as have some fun and join in where allowed, and we're looking forward to the Race for life in the summer once more.
