Here is Sister Alice receiving the very first Nelmer's Legacy chemo comfort boxes a few months ago and we are pleased to share that they are now available within the Radiotherapy ward too!

These special boxes are packed with treats and comforting items to bring a little extra brightness to patients undergoing treatment.

Alice and her team of Health Care Support Workers have been trialling the boxes with patients to get their feedback, with hopes to make them a self-service feature in the future.

A huge thank you to the team and everyone involved in helping to deliver patients comfort right to their bedside. 🎗️

Today we are looking back at these wonderful photos of childhood friends Earle and Elmer, who raised a fantastic £4,065 for the Friends of BHOC through a high-energy Spinathon at Easton Leisure Centre!

Earle took on this challenge to support Elmer, who has been receiving treatment at the Centre since late 2024. Our Chair, Jane Lockwood, was honoured to meet them both to accept this incredible donation.

For Elmer, this fundraiser was a way to say thank you directly to the staff who have cared for him. As he shared with us:

"Cancer can effect anyone at anytime it has no boundaries young and old, or ethnicity."

Earle and Elmer's story is a beautiful reminder of the power of community, and that fundraising doesn't have to follow a set template. Whether you want to spin, bake, craft, or run, there are so many creative ways to get involved and make a direct impact on patient care.

Our latest cake sale was a total treat, raising a brilliant £522.95 for the Friends of BHOC!

A massive thank you to Pat and Jane for hosting the stall so wonderfully. We also owe a huge debt of gratitude to Jean and her daughters, Gemma and Rachel, for their incredible baking skills and for sourcing so many delicious treats. From the ever-popular carrot cake to those freshly made banoffee pies, every slice helped make a difference.

It was lovely to see such a fantastic mix of customers stopping by, including patients, visitors, hospital staff, a local construction team, and even an ambulance crew! Whether you bought a treat for yourself or to gift to your team, your support means the world to us.

Every penny raised goes directly toward supporting the patients and staff at the Bristol Haematology and Oncology Centre. Thank you for your generosity!

P.S. Make sure to keep an eye on our social media pages for news on our next cake sale!

We are thrilled to celebrate and thank Earle Simpson and Elmer, who raised a phenomenal £4,065 for the Friends of BHOC through a Spinathon at Easton Leisure Centre! Earle took on the challenge to support his childhood friend, Elmer, who has been undergoing treatment at the Centre since late 2024.

Our Chair, Jane Lockwood, was honoured to meet the duo and officially accept this incredible donation.

This mission was all about giving back to the "amazing" staff at BHOC. As Elmer says: "Cancer can affect anyone at any time, it has no boundaries young and old, or ethnicity." Elmer wanted to thank the hospital and staff in the best way he can by raising funds for the hospital directly.

Every penny of this total will go toward supporting cancer treatment and patient care at the Centre. A massive thank you to both Earle and Elmer for your incredible support and for showing what true friendship and community spirit can achieve!

He Did It! Our Ninja Hero Smashes the Bath Half 🥷🏆

Huge congratulations to Alex Young for completing the Bath Half Marathon in full ninja gear!

Alex took on this challenge with a massive goal: to attempt the Guinness World Record for the fastest half marathon dressed as a ninja. While the wind and rain made the record attempt incredibly tough, his dedication to the cause never wavered.

Alex raised a fantastic £740, nearly doubling his initial target! He ran in support of his cousin Alisa, who is currently receiving care at BHOC. As a charity that receives no government funding, every penny Alex raised will go directly toward providing comfort and vital equipment for patients like Alisa and their families.

Thank you, Alex, for being a fundraising superstar and braving the elements in fancy dress to support our patients and staff.
