How can you protect the environment if you don’t feel connected to it? 🌱

Recently, we collaborated with OTR on 'Nature Works' - a series of workshops supporting young people to connect with nature in creative new ways.

Over six weeks, 11–14 year-olds explored Springfield Community Allotments as a site for storytelling and making. They experimented with digital tools (photography, videography, digital drawing, 3D scanning, field-recording) as well as hands-on crafts (cyanotype, gelli printing, Japanese plant hammering).

Blending craft and digital tools is one of the ways we work at KWMC to make technology feel approachable.

For these young people, these tools opened up new ways of seeing and reimagining their environment, while gently building confidence with technology and their connection with nature...

What makes AI explainable from community perspectives? 💭 This is the question we'll be exploring in an upcoming event hosted in collaboration with Bristol Digital Futures Institute and Black South West Network.

The event will be showcasing the outputs of a six-year project collaboration on 'Explainable AI', which highlighted the crucial role of racial justice, arts and community participation in grounding AI in local knowledge, needs and interests. We will also explore how to build successful collaborations between community, industry and academic partners.
