On Thursday our cadets refreshed (and learnt) some seamanship skills. Revision on some of the basic bends and hitches we use in the sea cadets first half followed by some rigging and a mock up replenishment at sea (RAS). There was even time for something a bit fancy…

Additionally we had 2 basic CIS awards, 2 Basic Climbing awards, and enrolled one new Cadet. A very belated update - but CFC Damon and CFC Riley enjoyed a short offshore voyage on TS Royalist last month! See if you can spot them in this video from Sea Cadets Offshore!

Another great experience for our cadets!

Last weekend, our First Lt, PO Skuse took time out of his busy schedule to spruce up The Merchant Navy Association memorial in Portishead.

In place at Battery Point, the memorial commemorates seafarers from the West Country who unfortunately did not return home. Avonmouth Sea Cadets is immensely proud of our support in maintaining this memorial and will ensure it is looking prim and proper throughout the winter months.

Thank you PO Skuse for helping us maintain our promise to the Merchant Navy Association.

Please take the time to follow the hyperlink and learn about the good work the Merchant Navy Association get up to!

A productive and fun filled couple of months at TS Enterprise has culminated in a busy couple of evenings of presentations. Last week we held our monthly divisions with 7 qualifications, promotions and awards, followed by a further 4 more this week.

All of these awards and qualifications have been the result of hard work and dedication from our cadets and staff, putting in the hours in Bristol Harbourside during our summer boating season, off on district camps, or trips off shore.

We also had climbing, first aid, and multiple promotions too to round off a great summer. Congratulations on all those who gained awards and qualifications.

Now on to preparations for Novembers Drill Competition!

AGM Update - due to weather and environmental issues in Bristols Harbourside, our AGM tomorrow will now be held at Avonmouth Unit. Apologies for the late change in plan.

Back out on the water last night at Bristol Adventure Sea Cadets and Royal Marines Cadets with Sea Cadets Thornbury & District. More rowing and power hours for our two units cadets.

As the nights draw in and we get to the end of the season, we’re wrapping up a few qualifications that our cadets have been worked towards all summer! Looking forward to Septembers Divisions and a whole host of qualification awards!
