Reuse Network supports reuse charities across the UK to help them alleviate poverty, reduce waste an How does it work? It’s so simple. How can you help?

Did you know that there are over 14.5 million people in the UK today living in poverty? AND

Did you know 10 million household items are sent to landfill every year. 3 million of these items could be re-used by people in crisis. We, the Reuse Network work with reuse charities helping them to reach as many vulnerable people in crisis whilst reducing waste at the same time. Quality household items (from your washing machine and freezer through to beds and sofas) are donated by you. These household items are given for free to people in urgent need or sold at a very low cost. As well as giving a family or household hope and a helping hand when they desperately need, we are making sure that perfectly good furniture is not being thrown away. Don’t immediately throw you unwanted furniture, white goods (washing machines, fridge freezers), or clothes or pots and pans away. Ask yourself – ‘can they be re-used?’ and if they can, give us a shout. We’ll find your nearest re-use charity, and they will collect larger items! And if you find yourself needing some furniture, pop down to your local re-use charity to see what they have in store. It’ll be quality furniture for cheap. For more information and to find your nearest reuse charity visit our website https://reuse-network.org.uk/donate-items/ or call 00800 085 8339. (All furniture made from textiles must have a fire retardant label attached to be re-used.)

The reuse sector is quietly doing some heavy lifting.

Every year, our members divert millions of usable household items from landfill and into low-income households. On top of that, the sector supports a growing network of people through volunteering, employment and training opportunities.

Tackling poverty and tackling climate change, at the same time. That's what reuse does.

Reuse charities do more than provide furniture. Our members support some of the most marginalised and vulnerable people in their communities, helping with everything from debt to unemployment, not just what's in their living room.

It's about giving people a better, brighter future - not just a sofa to sit on.

That's why we exist: to give our member charities the support, connections and goods they need to reach the people who need them most.

Got a sofa, dining table or wardrobe you no longer need?

Right now, there are households across the UK living without the basics most of us take for granted: a bed to sleep in, a table to eat at, somewhere to sit down at the end of the day.

Your unwanted furniture doesn't have to end up at the tip. Donate it to your local reuse charity, and it could become someone else's fresh start.

✅ It's good for your home ✅ It's good for someone who needs it ✅ It's good for the planet

Reuse charities don't just stop furniture from going to landfill. They change lives.

Every year, our members help hundreds of thousands of households across the UK access good-quality, affordable items for their home, often at moments of real crisis: fleeing domestic abuse, leaving care, resettling after homelessness, or simply trying to make ends meet.

None of this happens by accident. Behind every donation is a professional operation: safety testing, PAT testing, fire label checks, logistics, warehousing, retail and delivery. All of this is run by skilled teams and dedicated volunteers who take quality and safety as seriously as any high street retailer.

Reuse charities aren't a stopgap. They're a professional, essential part of how the UK tackles poverty and waste at the same time 🔄💜
