Bristol home birth group Meeting monthly, Bristol home birth group provides information and support for women and their partners who are exploring the option of a home birth.

The group is facilitated by women who themselves have had experience of a home birth together with midwives and birth educators. We offer an opportunity to:
- Hear positive birth stories
- Get information on home birth
- Meet parents who have had babies at home
- Meet midwives with experience of home birth
- Find out if having a baby at home is right for you

Meetings
There is a rolling pr

ogramme with meetings usually being held on the 3rd Sunday of the month from 7pm-9pm. The cost is £5 per person (£3.50 concessions).

Calling all Bristol Home Birthers

In this time of birth becoming more and more medicalised, it’s so important that we keep your home birth stories alive.

We would love to gather your written stories to create a treasure trove of birth stories - to inspire, normalise, educate, offer tips, tricks and support to anyone seeking an understanding of birth at home.

Thanks so much to the wonderful Jade and Jake who came to share their story of birthing at home after previously having an unplanned cesarean. It was so very powerful to hear their experience of two very different births and how birthing at home following her instincts every step of the way was truly a transformative experience. It was extra special too having them share as they had attended our group each month that Jade was pregnant too.

We can’t wait to see you all next month with different guests coming in to share their experience of birthing at home and a discussion on the topic, can I have a homebirth?

Huge thanks to C&M who came to share their birth stories and a deep and open account of their experiences birthing each of their babies 🙏

It was so valuable to hear directly how birth and the early postnatal period can be so much deeper, more full on and challenging than any ‘positive birth’ preparation can actually convey, and how it can come as a bit of a shock, even as it unfolds in a natural and uncomplicated way.

Thank you for sharing how much learning you both took from your first birth, and how healing that second birth can feel, having assimilated so much new growth, self knowing and the importance of resourcing yourselves with additional support, especially from family and community 💛

Thanks so much to Jeni, Mike and their gorgeous babe Hamish for coming to share about his birth at home in the living room.

It was so inspiring to hear about the choices they made along the way, the support they took and also hearing about their birth experience of their first child too, who was also born at home but a completely different experience in so many ways.

We then went on to have a discussion on births that happen quickly and what can be supportive to know and consider beforehand.

What a year 2025 has been. 12 meetings with 12 incredible birth stories, nearly 400 people have come through our doors. How incredible to be normalising homebirth and changing lives. Through sharing stories, information, tips and tricks for birthing at home women and their birth partners feel so supported, inspired and able to trust their instincts as their birth unfolds.

We look forward to the year ahead and the coming meetings, birth stories and new faces we will meet.
