FREE CUPPA, CAKE & CRAFT SESSION

A Friendly Reminder to Stay Connected for Loneliness Awareness Week

Loneliness Awareness Week runs from 15 to 21 June and is an annual initiative led by the Marmalade Trust, shining a light on the importance of connection, community and simple acts of kindness.

To mark the week, we’re inviting local people to join us tomorrow Tuesday 16th June from 2pm to 4pm for an afternoon of cuppas, cake, conversation and creativity.

The session will feature our wonderful community crafting champion Hannah Llewellyn and her brilliant stone painting workshop, this time inspired by the theme of love, care and connection. Whether you’re a seasoned crafter or fancy trying something new, or just fancy a cuppa, cake and a chat - everyone is welcome.

Sometimes the smallest moments, sharing a chat, making something together, or simply being around other people, can make a big difference.

So why not pop along, meet some friendly faces and spend a couple of hours getting creative with us?
Come and join us. Stay connected.

No need to book. Just turn up!

EVENT THIS FRIDAY 12th JUNE

DON'T FALL. WALK TALL

Supporting Confidence, Safety, and Independence.

Did you know that falls are the largest cause of emergency hospital admissions for older people aged 65+?

We are pleased to be hosting Don’t Fall, Walk Tall, a community event led by Age UK Bristol designed to help older people feel more confident, steady, and supported in their everyday lives.
The event brings together a range of local health, wellbeing, and community organisations in one welcoming space. It is an opportunity to find out about practical ways to reduce the risk of falls, stay active, and maintain independence at home and in the community.

Visitors will be able to speak directly with professionals, learn about local services, and explore simple, practical ideas that can make a real difference to everyday movement and safety. This includes information on balance and strength, safe footwear, and how to move confidently around the home.

There'll also be opportunities to see gentle demonstrations and discover local activities that support wellbeing and staying active. The event is informal and can be visited at your own pace, with plenty of time to ask questions and talk to services one-to-one.

Don’t Fall, Walk Tall is open to older people, as well as family members, carers, and anyone interested in supporting independent living and wellbeing in later life. Refreshments will be available, offering a chance to relax and have a friendly chat with others attending.

This event is about bringing people together, sharing practical knowledge, and supporting confidence in everyday life.

➡️ Free to attend
➡️ Friday 12th June
➡️ 11am to 12.30pm
➡️ Free tea & coffee

Please share this post with anyone who you feel may benefit from this free advice.

Remix Festival Brings the Motivation to Knowle West

What a day. What a vibe. What a lotta lycra.

Last Saturday, The Park Centre played host to the incredible Remix Festival, an all-day celebration of fitness, wellbeing, movement and inclusion that brought together around 200 people ready to dance, strut, stretch, wiggle and work up a smile.

From the moment the doors opened, there was an energy in the building impossible to ignore. Session after session saw people of all ages, abilities and fitness levels coming together to try something new, reconnect with fitness friends, make new ones, and discover that exercise can be joyful, welcoming and enormous fun.

The icing on cake was the appearance of national fitness legend Mr Motivator. Bringing his trademark positivity, infectious enthusiasm and unmistakable dayglo style, he lit up the festival and had the whole room moving and singing along. His message was simple: fitness is for everyone.

Amanda Pickstock, Katy and their fantastic team of instructors from Revive Fitness Classes and beyond deserve huge credit for creating something truly special. Together they led a sea of dayglo lycra, big smiles and happy faces through crescendo after crescendo, proving that community fitness can be every bit as uplifting as it is healthy.

For The Park Centre, it was a privilege to support such a pioneering event. This was a first for Knowle West and perhaps even for Bristol itself – a truly inclusive fitness festival headlined by one of the UK's most loved wellness icons.

The best news? It isn't over.

Mr Motivator enjoyed himself so much that he announced his return before he even left the building. Remix Festival will be back in November, bringing another chance to experience the famous "Motivator Effect" and be part of one of the happiest events we've ever hosted.

If you missed it this time, don't make the same mistake twice. November can't come soon enough.
