And we support our partners to embrace new, sustainable ways of working within their organisations and across destinations, with measurable results.

Our CEO, Jeremy Sampson, appeared on a tourism industry panel* at COP29 today, as the COP agenda turned to focus on the travel industry.

It's great news that more than 50 countries have signed an endorsement, the Baku Declaration on Enhanced Action in Tourism, to promote sustainable travel. This endorsement involves:

- Preserving ecosystems
- Linking tourism to environmental policy
- Reducing emissions
- Sustainability as a way of being more resilient and competitive

The Baku Declaration also been supported by a range of travel industry organisations, like the Pacific Asia Travel Association.

Zurab Pololikashvili, Secretary-General of UN Tourism, called it "a key turning point for our sector" that tourism has been included on the COP29 agenda. This leads to sustainable tourism being given more attention by the media and policymakers than ever before.

* = Jeremy Sampson was a panellist at the High Level Roundtable 2: Raising the Climate Ambition of the Tourism Sector – from commitments to implementation (regeneration/adaptation and finance).
