Primary Science Teaching Trust Our vision is to see excellent teaching of science in every primary classroom in the UK.

The PSTT meets its objective of improving the education of children and young people in science in the UK by providing financial assistance to improve teaching and learning of the subject. We fund innovative and cluster science teaching projects across the UK, at primary, transition (key stage 2/3) and secondary level. We also provide free resources in the form of Continuing Professional Development Units, lesson plans and other curriculum materials such as scientific inquiry assessment and assessing pupils progress. The Primary Science Teaching Trust, endowed by AstraZeneca PLC has been supporting schools and teachers in the UK since 1997.

💬 What happens when children have more opportunities to think, talk and ask questions in science?

That's what Thinking, Doing, Talking Science is all about!

This approach to primary science encourages children to develop their scientific understanding through classroom discussions, practical investigations and problem solving.

Teachers can use:
💡 'Bright Ideas Time' to get children talking and sharing ideas
🔍 Creative investigations to encourage problem solving
✏️ Opportunities for children to record, reflect on and discuss their thinking

Our TDTS training gives teachers the chance to try activities first-hand and discover ways to use them across KS1 and KS2.

We're getting hands-on with materials and their properties using a spooky sensory tray.
