🍇 This summer holiday come and cook @ Square Food Foundation, Knowle West!

Square Food Foundation are really excited to be running 3 weeks of cooking sessions from August 3rd - August 20th, 10am-2pm!

Our kitchen with step-free access is based in The Park Centre – there is an Accessible Toilet on site.

They have ear defenders and sensory/fidget toys available.
There is a garden space and opportunities for you to have breaks.

Please feel free to get in touch with Square Food Foundation if you want to discuss how they can make the space and session enjoyable for you.

👩‍🍳 What will we be doing?
Preparing and cooking tasty food, growing in the garden, crafts and games.
🍕 Free of charge to attend!

We will be sitting down to enjoy the food you have created – there will be breakfast foods, snacks and drinks available throughout the day.

Our Cookery Teachers and volunteers are fully DBS checked and trained in safeguarding (recently refreshed June 2026).

Loneliness Awareness Week

Loneliness Awareness Week runs from 15 to 21 June and is an annual initiative led by the Marmalade Trust, shining a light on the importance of connection, community and simple acts of kindness.

Cardfactory Foundation relaunches Community Fund with larger grants

The cardfactory Foundation has relaunched its Community Fund, moving from 50 grants of £5,000 to 25 unrestricted grants of £10,000 each. Applications open on Monday 22 June.

The change reflects a deliberate shift towards fewer but larger awards, with the Foundation citing the ongoing financial pressures facing charities as the reason for increasing individual grant values.

The fund is open to registered UK charities with an annual income of less than £3 million. To be eligible, organisations must work within at least one of three priority areas, providing support to:

- families experiencing financial disadvantage
- those facing sudden hardship and crisis
- and vulnerable children and young people.

Grants are unrestricted, allowing recipients to direct funding where it is most needed, whether towards frontline delivery or operational costs.

Applications will be submitted through a single-stage written process hosted on the Foundation’s website. The Foundation has designed the process with applicants’ time in mind, aiming to make eligibility clear before organisations commit to applying.

Funded charities will be asked to provide a light-touch impact report after 12 months, rather than detailed financial reporting.

The cardfactory Foundation has stated that the Community Fund will continue to evolve in response to feedback from charities and communities.
