Built in 1342 it is an extraordinary survivor of our medieval past. Located just a few minutes from Bristol Parkway and Junction 1 of the M32, Winterbourne Medieval Barn hosts a huge variety of events throughout the year including workshops, talks, family events, music and drama performances, as well as big community events like a Medieval Fayre, Orchard Harvest Day, and Carols in the Barn. Major
building works have recently been completed with support from the National Lottery Heritage Fund and many other generous funders and donors to revitalise the whole Barn complex into a community heritage site promoting the knowledge of medieval history, its architecture, agricultural landscape and people. This project has also created 4 workshops, occupied by small artisan businesses including Aimee Winstone Jewellery, Western Building Consultants Ltd, The Petal Emporium florist and The Pottery Shed who run regular pottery classes. The site is run by a charitable trust, staffed largely by local volunteers. The medieval barn is also available to hire for private events such as weddings and family celebrations, and as a location for filming. Well-equipped rooms in the West Barn and Cartshed can be hired by the hour or by the day for conferences, meetings, workshops, school groups, etc. Full details of all the Events and Open Days at Winterbourne Medieval Barn can be found on our website https://www.winterbournebarn.org.uk/. The primary purpose of our events is to raise money for WMBT and to support conservation, management, maintenance and improvement of the WMBT site.
