Whether you’re newly engaged, actively planning your wedding or exploring venues, we’d love to welcome you and show you around this very special space.

Can we tell you something spooky?

Half term isn't that far away 👻👻👻

If you're looking for a fun morning, join us on Monday 26 October for a relaxed morning of Halloween family crafting!

We’ll have plenty of materials for little makers to let their imaginations run wild 👹 👮‍♀️ 🦸 🧌 🧛‍♂️ 🧛 🧜‍♀️ 🧚‍♂️

There's also a scavenger hunt as well as building blocks and medieval figures for younger visitors or anyone needing a little break from crafting.

🎨 Each child gets plenty of space to get creative and squash and a biscuit as creative fuel.

The session is recommended for ages 5+, but everyone is welcome. It’s a relaxed, inclusive session rather than a guided workshop, so there’s no pressure to follow instructions or finish a particular project.

🎶 Did you know? 🎶

This weekend marked 10 years since Bygonz first performed at Winterbourne Medieval Barn!

For a whole decade, Rob and Gillian Guest have been bringing the sounds of the past to the Barn; sharing music that spans from the early medieval period through to folk music collected by the Edwardians.

They have fascinating instruments, from the hurdy-gurdy and pipe and tabor to English bagpipes allowing them to bring a real sense of life and fun to the music of bygone (we couldn’t resist!) eras.

We’re so pleased to have welcomed Bygonz back over the years and to have shared their music with so many of our visitors. Live music is a wonderful way to connect with the past, and we’re delighted that Bygonz have been part of the Barn’s story for the last ten years.

A huge thank you to Rob and Gillian for ten years of music, entertainment and helping bring history to life at the Barn. Here’s to many more!

Congratulations to our competition winners from yesterday’s Harvest Day! 🌟
Marcus won the bottle of Tavern Mead from the ferret racing draw and (after a record number of entries!) Sean and his family won the Harvest Hamper.

We would like to thank Hive Mind Mead & Brew Co and Tesco Bradley Stoke for their generous donations of the prizes.

We hope you all enjoyed taking part.

And that’s a wrap! The weather held off for us all day and more than 500 people joined us at The Barn for the celebrations.

We had nail-biting ferret racing, toe-tapping music and dancing, delicious food, great drinks and there was lots of amazing handmade goodies to be had in the market. We had record numbers participate in our Owl Prowl competition and one lucky winner has a hamper of fresh fruit and vegetables to look forward to.

Thank you so much to all our performers, traders and our brilliant volunteers for bringing Winterbourne Harvest Day to life, we had a ball!

If you're joining us this Sunday, here are some important things you should know:

🚗 Parking: Free parking is available at Winterbourne Academy on Winterbourne High Street. A complimentary shuttle bus will run continuously between the Academy and the Barn throughout the day. Fold-up standard pushchairs can go on the minibuses, although you may need to wait for a bus with enough space.

♿ Accessible parking: If you need accessible parking, please follow the instructions when buying your tickets.

🚫 Please don't park on Church Lane. It's very narrow and needs to remain clear for residents, emergency vehicles and the shuttle buses.

🐕 Bringing your dog? Well-behaved dogs on leads are very welcome. Please remember that owners are responsible for their dogs, and dog waste can't be disposed of within the Barn grounds. There's a dog waste bin just outside the grounds on the public footpath.

🎟️ Need to leave and come back? No problem! Just speak to a volunteer at the front gate before you leave and they can give you a return pass.

🚲 Not driving? There's bicycle parking at the Barn and local buses stop a few minutes' walk from Winterbourne Academy, where you can catch the shuttle to the Barn.

🚌 Did you know that we're just 20 minutes from the centre of Bristol by bus? So, if you plan to have a couple of ciders, you don't have to worry about getting home.

🐎 (where's the ferret emoji when you need it?) Everyone can participate in our just-for-fun ferret racing, look out for the table to make your 'bets'.
One bet per person, per race.
If your ferret wins, bring your winning ticket back to the table at the race area to exchange for a sweet (or enter the Mead prize draw - strictly for over 18s).

💜 Need help on the day? For first aid or if a child gets lost, look out for our team members in purple T-shirts and lanyards.

And, of course, there's plenty to look forward to once you arrive – live music, Morris dancing, local makers, food and drink, children's entertainment and the return of our legendary ferret racing!
