Statement of Barton Fields Trust
There has been much speculation regarding the future of the goats on the fields with the three new developments planned and we would like to address this now so everyone is fully in the picture.
Barton Fields Trust have loved the goats being part of the lifeblood of the fields. Rani and Goat Busters and before with Street Goat have done a great job of caring for the goats while they have helped with the land management.
The three developments taking place have been planned long before the goats arrived on site however it has taken a time to get the plans in place and funding secured. The developments are as follows:
Just north of the existing club house will be a multi use games area (MUGA) which is a flood light fenced and secured 3G football field. 40m x 25m. This area can be used year round for 5-a-side, football and other sporting activities.
At the bottom of the park there is new play facilities including a zip line and new play equipment.
The rugby club has planning permission for an extension already. They are planning on expanding their car parking to allow for this extra use and minimise the overflow of parking on streets around the fields. Planning application will be submitted soon.
We, Barton Fields Trust, met last night (Tues 13th Jan) and agreed to work with Goatbusters & Rani to ensure everything is done to keep the goats on the fields while these developments happen or ensure they are moved off in a structured way with potentially them coming back once the developments have been completed.
If Goat Busters find a new permanent home for Benji and Zephi we will explore the potential of inviting Street Goat back to our fields.
We want the best for the community, Benji and Zephi and for the fields. If there is a way forward, we will find it.
Kind regards,
Mike Bond, Chair.
