Creative Connex are a team of Community Consultants who specialise in bringing large organisations and businesses together with underrepresented groups who feel that they do not have a voice. They have undertaken a number of successful community related projects including consultation, training, diversity advice and creative arts projects with Avon & Somerset Police, NHS, Bristol City Council, SS Great Britain, Bristol Old Vic, UWE & UoB.

🗣️ If you missed Roger speak on Saturday, here is an article reflecting on the conversations had with Windrush Commissioner Clive Foster.

On Saturday 17 October, Roger Griffith MBE joined community members and Reverend Clive Foster MBE, Independent Windrush Commissioner, at Bristol City Hall for an important conversation about the ongoing Windrush scandal, justice and the legacy of the Windrush Generation.

🇯🇲 Roger reflected on Bristol’s rich Caribbean history, the legacy of the Bristol Bus Boycott and the importance of preserving the stories and experiences of the elders who helped shape our communities.

🤝 The discussion explored the continuing challenges faced by those seeking Windrush compensation, the need for accessible support, and the importance of ensuring that community voices are heard and acted upon.

📖 The article captures the key conversations, concerns and reflections from the day, reminding us that recognition must go hand in hand with justice and that the stories of the Windrush Generation must never be forgotten.

We’re proud to see Roger Griffith MBE, Bristol-based writer, poet, cultural activist and Creative Connex’s very own, take centre stage as one of the headliners at BlackFest 2026 – Bristol Music Showcase! 💥

🌍 Join Roger alongside author and historian Malik Al Nasir for the Shore to Shore Exchange — exploring the shared histories of Bristol and Liverpool, shaped by enslavement, colonialism, migration, resilience and cultural exchange.

🎶 Expect an incredible evening of live music spanning hip-hop, alternative R&B, neo-soul, reggae, jazz and soulful sounds, bringing artists from Bristol and Liverpool together.

✨ 2025: Celebrating heritage, amplifying voices, creating change.

In 2025, Creative Connex continued to champion cultural heritage, community voices and creative opportunities across Bristol and beyond. 💙💜

🌍 Through Finding Your Roots Bristol, we supported illustrator Abbi Bayliss on a journey to explore her Caribbean heritage in Dominica, uncovering family stories and connections to be shared with the wider community.

🎬 We were thrilled to receive Arts Council England funding for First Born Second Children of the Windrush Era — a landmark multimedia project celebrating the British-born children of Windrush pioneers through film, writing, artwork, workshops and an exhibition.

💛 We continued supporting Caribbean elders through cultural outings and intergenerational events, bringing communities together and celebrating the connections between generations.

🌱 The Black Seeds Network’s Nature Rising programme brought communities together through pollinator workshops and environmental events, culminating in a celebrated exhibition at We The Curious and winning a Soul Trail Award!

🤝 Alongside this, we continued championing equity and inclusion through strategic advice, training and resources for organisations across the region.

From exploring ancestral roots and celebrating Windrush stories to championing environmental justice, 2025 was a year of heritage, creativity and meaningful community impact. ✨

✨ 2024: Celebrating culture, championing voices.

In 2024, Creative Connex continued to connect communities, celebrate diversity and amplify underrepresented voices through digital marketing, cultural events and creative partnerships. 💙💜

🏛️ We were proud to provide promotional and digital marketing support to Sharon Foster, Bristol’s first Caribbean High Sheriff, helping raise the profile of this historic milestone and celebrate representation across the city.

🎬 We supported Come The Revolution as the Bristol-based collective celebrated 10 years of Black cinema and culture. Through digital marketing and event promotion, we helped showcase a year of public film screenings, director Q&As, talks and music celebrating diverse stories and perspectives.

✍🏾 Through Emblaze, we collaborated with Paper Nations, Bath Spa University and UWE Bristol to help build stronger networks and infrastructure for Black and ethnically diverse writers across the region.

From celebrating historic milestones to championing Black cinema and strengthening opportunities for diverse writers, 2024 was a year of culture, creativity and connection. ✨

In 2023, we continued our commitment to celebrating the Windrush Generation and preserving their stories, contributions and lasting legacy. 💙💜

🎉 Through our Windrush Heritage Programme, we marked important anniversaries with public events, storytelling and collaborations that honoured the generations who helped shape our communities.

🤝 We also expanded our Windrush Citizenship and Compensation Initiative, working in partnership with My Future My Choice to deliver public outreach and raise awareness of the support and opportunities available.

Through heritage, storytelling and community collaboration, we continued to ensure that Windrush stories are recognised, celebrated and passed on to future generations.

✨ 2023: Empowering people, creating opportunities.

In 2023, Creative Connex continued to grow as a community-focused consultancy and creative organisation, delivering projects that celebrated heritage, empowered young people and championed diverse voices. 💙💜

💼 Our Signpost to Skills employment programme, delivered in partnership with WECA, achieved fantastic results. By the end of the programme, all participants had progressed and developed new skills, with three Black and ethnically diverse participants going on to establish their own micro-businesses!

🌱 We also strengthened our commitment to environmental justice and inclusion. Gnisha, lead of the Black Seeds Network, and Roger Griffith MBE co-authored a chapter in a groundbreaking book exploring environmentalism and inclusion, titled “The Demand for Racial Equality in Environmentalism.”

From supporting career development and entrepreneurship to amplifying voices in environmental justice, our work continued to create opportunities and drive meaningful change.

✨ 2022: A new chapter for Creative Connex.

2022 was a landmark year for us — marking our official transition to a Community Interest Company (CIC) and a major expansion of our community, heritage and creative work.

🚌 We launched Drive for Change, in collaboration with First Bus and Curiosity UnLtd, raising awareness of the Bristol Bus Boycott’s civil rights legacy and advocating for greater representation of Black and ethnically diverse bus drivers.

🏛️ We supported SARI CEO Alex Raikes throughout her 2022–23 tenure as High Sheriff of Bristol, helping deliver her programme and amplify key events and messages across social media.

✍🏾 Through Black Writing Matters, working with Paper Nations, Bath Spa University and UWE Bristol, we strengthened networks for Black and ethnically diverse writers and authors across the South West — providing platforms, resources, mentoring and visibility.

🎴 Our Crossing Coasts Heritage Project for Schools, led by My Future My Choice, brought heritage education to life in local schools through a Top Trumps-style card game exploring the stories of the Windrush Generation and their descendants.

💼 We also launched Signpost to Skills — an employment and career development programme supporting Black and ethnically diverse people with job skills, opportunities and ongoing mentoring.

From becoming a CIC to creating new platforms, programmes and partnerships, 2022 was a year of growth, purpose and putting community at the heart of what we do.

In 2021, we expanded Creative Connex’s role as a connector, digital agency and storyteller across Bristol and the South West.

🌍 We continued our work on the Windrush Generations Project with UWE Bristol, bringing generations together through celebratory lunches, student films, poetry and lectures — honouring Caribbean elders and amplifying Windrush voices.

📚 Through the Emblaze programme with Paper Nations and Bath Spa University, we mapped diverse writing groups across the South West and strengthened connections across the region’s creative communities.

🤝 We supported the South Gloucestershire Race Equality Network (SGREN) to grow its digital presence, secure funding and deliver community celebrations.

🌱 We also incubated and supported the growth of the Black Seeds Network, producing their films for COP26 and showcasing women leaders of colour speaking about climate justice.
