The Brightwell was founded in 1985 as The West of England MS Therapy Centre by Jackie Brightwell - a woman caring for her husband, Ray, following a diagnosis of Multiple Sclerosis. Ray had taken part in a clinical trial of Oxygen Therapy and had responded well. Following the end of the clinical trial Jackie set about trying to set up a local branch of ARMS (Action Research into Multiple Sclerosis)
and in doing so provide a facility to give Oxygen Therapy to people with MS in the Greater Bristol Area. Following an 18 month appeal she raised the necessary money to install an 8 man oxygen therapy chamber and to buy two units at the Centre's original location in Nailsea. In the following years more therapies were added and today you can come to the Centre for Physiotherapy, Oxygen Therapy, Counselling, Aromatherapy, Reflexology as well as a host of specialist clinics and advice clinics. In 2012 The West of England MS Therapy Centre left the trading estate in Nailsea to move into it's very own, purpose built Centre in Bradley Stoke, allowing us to help more people in the surrounding areas. As the Centre approached its 30th anniversary and in recognition of the work put in by the Brightwell family all those years ago we decided to rebrand as The Brightwell and offer our help and support to anyone living with a neurological condition - we hope to continue doing so for many more years to come.
