Bristol University Opera Society Welcome to Bristol University Opera Society! Our society provides unmissable opportunities for students to discover the world of opera. Join us!

We produce two full-scale operas and hold a number of concerts, masterclasses and socials every year. BOpS is the only opera society at the University of Bristol providing students with a platform to showcase their performing arts talents. Our most recent productions have included Mozart's Don Giovanni (2018), Janacek's The Cunning Little Vixen (2019) and Mozart’s The Magic Flute (2021 - staged vi

rtually on account of COVID). When we're not performing on stage, we hold a number of smaller events. These include regular arias concerts and recitals which give members other chances to perform, alumni masterclasses, opera screening socials, trips to opera houses, termly formals and Performing Arts nights out. We are always on the lookout for new members; instrumentalists, singers, conductors, directors, producers, or anyone who fancies trying something new - we will welcome you with open arms! this will be a very silly and fun show to be a part of! it is very short and easy. please join us even if you've never sung opera before, most of us hadn't before we joined! and this is the perfect way to dip your toes in for just 48h. our whole goal with society is to make opera as accessible as possible so if you have any questions please dm us! you can literally sin a pop song operatically for your audition. like stereotypically operatically. it's exactly what you think.

auditions:
thursday 21st 2-4pm in the hawthorns basement
friday 22nd 1-3pm in the stephenson room, richmond building

rehearsals:
friday 22nd 7-10pm
all day saturday 23rd from 10am
all day sunday 24th from 10am

the show:
sunday 24th, doors at 7pm for a 7:30pm start

We're delighted to announce that BOpS has achieved GOLD in the Group Accreditation Scheme for 2025/26!! A massive thank you to all our members for making this such a fantastic year for BOpS, and thank you to Ella, our Vice-President, for all her brilliant work coordinating the scheme 🏆🔥
