๐Ÿ’™ Could you help an older person feel more connected?

Anne lives on her own and comes to Coniston Connect every week.

โ€œComing to Coniston Connect is a lifeline for me. It gives me a chance to get out, see people and make new friends.โ€

For Anne, coming to Coniston Connect has become an important part of her weekly routine. She enjoys spending time with people of her own age, doing jigsaws, playing dominoes and colouring.

โ€œThe food is always great, but it is the connection with other people that means the most. It makes me feel part of something.โ€

There are not many groups for older people in Anneโ€™s area. But, she can use the Four Towns & Vale Link Community Transport with friendly drivers, which makes the journey possible.

๐Ÿ’™ Coniston Connect could not happen without volunteers:

From setting up activities, serving tea, coffee and delicious food to washing dishes and chatting with people, every contribution helps.

๐Ÿ‘‰ Could you spare some time to volunteer?

๐Ÿ’™ Could you help someone feel less alone?

Pauline, aged 88, lives on her own and comes to Coniston Connect every Tuesday.

โ€œEveryone is super friendly, and it gives me a reason to leave my flat for a few hours.โ€

Because of arthritis in her hands, Pauline can not take part in the activities. But she enjoys being with everyone, and having her two-course meal with other people.

โ€œJust being here, hearing people talk and being around others is enough.โ€

Social connection is not always about taking part in activities. Simply being around other people can help reduce loneliness and isolation.

Our volunteers help make Coniston Connect a welcoming place where older people can meet, enjoy a meal together and feel part of a community.

๐Ÿ’™ Could you spare some time to volunteer at Coniston Connect?

Whether you can help with setting up activities, serving tea, coffee and delicious food, washing dishes or chatting with people. Your time will make a real difference.
