🌞 HEATWAVE ALERT 🌞

Bristol is experiencing very hot weather this week. Bristol Horn Youth Concern is encouraging everyone to stay safe and look after one another.

✅ Drink plenty of water
✅ Stay in the shade where possible
✅ Wear sunscreen, a hat, and light clothing
✅ Avoid strenuous activities during the hottest part of the day
✅ Check on elderly neighbours, relatives, and vulnerable community members
✅ Never leave children or pets in parked vehicles

Let’s work together to keep our community safe during the heatwave.

☀️ Bristol Horn Youth Concern is reminding everyone that unusually high temperatures are affecting the city today, with the heat expected to rise further.

Please take extra care of young people and vulnerable members of the community during this hot weather.

💧 Drink plenty of water
🌤️ Avoid direct sunlight during the hottest part of the day
👧 Keep children cool and out of intense heat
🏠 Stay in a cool place where possible
❤️ Check in on elderly neighbours, vulnerable people, and those living alone

A quick phone call or knock on the door can make a real difference. Let’s continue caring for one another and keeping our community safe during this hot weather.

We’re excited to launch our Girls Group Youth Club every Tuesday from 4–6pm at The Trinity Centre, Bristol 💜

📍 Starts: 19th May 2026
👧 For girls aged 10–18
🙋🏽‍♀️ Girls only session led by experienced female youth workers
🤝 Delivered by Bristol Horn Youth Concern & Trinity through the Love Stapleton Road Young People Programme

This is a safe, welcoming and supportive space where young girls can make new friends, build confidence, take part in fun activities and speak openly in a positive environment.

We would love to see young people from across Bristol join us every week. Please come along and share this with families, schools, youth groups and the wider community to help us spread the word.

Earlier today, we held a community workshop focused on tackling Islamophobia and racism in a safe and inclusive space.

The session provided valuable insight into the impact of discrimination and shared practical ways we can all challenge prejudice and promote understanding. The discussion also highlighted the importance of reporting incidents and seeking support from others.

It was inspiring to see participants openly sharing their experiences, asking questions, and supporting one another. Creating spaces like this helps build awareness, strengthen community connections, and encourage positive change.

A big thank you to Black South West Network for supporting this important initiative 🙏

Children and young people enjoyed a fantastic baking session where they took part in making and learning new baking skills 🍪. The session was very enjoyable, with participants engaging enthusiastically, making new friends, and developing an understanding of healthy eating, food hygiene, and safety practices.

This was followed by a delicious meal together, accompanied by a selection of fresh fruit 🍎🍌🍇, promoting healthy eating and wellbeing.
