From sudden sight loss to BBC’s Race Across the World 💙
After losing sight in both eyes due to a rare form of uveitis, Tricia became so frightened of the world around her that she didn’t leave her home for a whole year.
Today, many people know her as one of the winners of BBC’s Race Across the World Series 3, where she travelled across Canada with her best friend Cathie.
Tricia’s story highlights the importance of support, determination, and crucially, research. Sight-saving treatments and participation in a clinical trial helped to stabilise her vision and prolong her sight.
“If it wasn’t for that research, I wouldn’t have my eyesight because it would have deteriorated completely.”
Tricia now encourages others to get involved in research wherever possible, believing it can help improve treatments and awareness for people living with sight conditions.
