Many of you will remember the visit last year of the I Would be Here if I Could Mirrorbox and listening to the inspiring message from Lizzy Horn

Our own report of the day is on https://www.troopers-hill.org.uk/events/25Mirror.htm but here's a copy of the post Lizzy herself has made recently, remembering that special day:

“I will forever be humbled and so proud of being part of at this time last year, June 1st, 2025.

It shocked me the amount of people who came out on such a blustery day, who came and stood, or sat, with me in that box, in that place.

I have only just, today finished reading through the incredible postcard messages, and want to say a huge THANK YOU to everyone who went along, and who took the time to write back to me, your messages are incredibly moving and comforting. I know the Hill is in so many good and gentle hands, until I meet with it again.

What a feat. what an idea to have, to have bought to life, and to have encompassed so many in. Long may the e Mirrorbox journey continue!

To everyone with M.E, or Long Covid, who wishes they could be somewhere that they can’t, I hear you, you are seen. I will continue to help with the Mirrorbox as it makes its way to many others’ destinations.

If you’d like to hear my message, you can listen on the link on the Instagram or website.

The heat was a bit energy draining but we had a lovely volunteer group getting rid of bracken and brambles so that the lovely ferns and heather had space to expand. A big thank you to you all. 🌿🍀🌾🌺

We're very sad to hear of the death of Emma Britton, https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/c8d856dlegzo
a kind, intelligent woman who during her time presenting the breakfast show on BBC Radio Bristol featured Troopers Hill on a number of occasions and even, in 2018, came to help on a Troopers Hill nature conservation work party and record some interviews. You can listen to the recordings via

Emma Britton spoke openly after being diagnosed with stage four lung cancer last April.

Great to have so many volunteers today. Check out https://www.troopers-hill.org.uk/workp.htm to see a short report of what was done and a link to photos. The visiting wildlife, particularly swollen-thighed beetles seemed to appreciate our efforts.
If you would like to help Troopers Hill too, find the available dates on www.tinyurl.com/thworkparty and book your place.

You may noticed that the 'Welcome to Troopers Hill' flag at Greendown had suffered a bit too much wind and sun. It was replaced on Thursday. That's our last spare flag.

2 spares will cost £96 (£80 + VAT). If you would like to donate towards their purchase you can make a donation via https://www.gofundme.com/f/troopers-hill-nature-conservation noting that the donation is for the flags. We're also happy to receive cheques or a bank transfer, just contact us for details by emailing [email protected] .

Meanwhile one of our volunteers will be sitting in the garden this weekend with a torn flag, needle and thread to see if some repairs can be done to keep the flags going for a little while longer. The lifetime of a flag is about 10 months to a year - the wind off Troopers Hill is a highly effective flag shredder.
