This , we are throwing the spotlight to Helen!

Helen is one of our Experts by Experience, a paid staff member who is also supported by Milestones, which means she often attends meetings to help shape how the Trust is run and provides feedback on initiatives.

Helen is also a brilliant artist. Earlier this year, her work was showcased at the Arnolfini and, as part of her role with the Trust, Helen led a Walk & Talk around the exhibit for others to see the way she has expressed herself through art, learn about her art group, and inspire them in creative activities! It was truly a fantastic experience for all.

Carol and Judy recently saw Matilda the Musical at Bristol Hippodrome . They had a fantastic evening at the show, including singing along to some of the songs!

Paul’s Place now has its very own Community Café!

Before you dance the afternoon away at Music Train at Paul’s Place Hub in Yate on Tuesday 16th June, why not arrive a little earlier and enjoy a drink and a delicious cake?

It's Learning Disability Week!

The theme for 2026 is "Do you see me?" which is all about people with a learning disability being seen, heard and valued.

Statistics from Mencap show that:
◾ Only 26.7% of adults with a learning disability are employed yet 86% want a paid job
◾ 1 in 3 people with a learning disability spend less than 1 hour outside their home on a typical Saturday
◾ Over 2,000 people with a learning disability and/or autistic people are currently locked away in mental health hospitals

So, this week, we will be pushing for change, sharing just some of the wonderful ways people we support are showing up in their communities!

Check out the visitor our service had yesterday! Holly Lodge is located in a beautiful part of the Wiltshire countryside and the people living there are used to seeing several family groups of muntjac deer who often come in to enjoy the gardens and sneak a cheeky nibble of the rose bushes...

Teresa has taken a big plunge!

She used to swim in the sea with her family in Weymouth many years ago and recently expressed an interest in going again.

looked into accessible pools and arranged a session. They helped her in the water, guiding her to use floats and the side of the pool to feel more assured. Teresa quickly grew in confidence and ended the session using the float and kicking her legs through the water.

Last up was a well-deserved cup of tea in the café! Teresa was so pleased that she had been swimming again and really enjoyed it. She felt proud at what she had achieved and would like to do this regularly.

As part of the 40 for 40 fundraising challenge Qamar Khan, Milestones Trust’s Director Of Estates, Facilities and IT, will be cycling a massive 400 kilometres over 4 weeks!

📝 Applications are now open to get involved with this unique opportunity!

We are looking for up to 10 adults (18 or over) with a learning disability in South Gloucestershire to work with us create this course.
