Help shape what makes a great park in Bristol 🌳

What makes a park feel welcoming, well looked after and worth visiting? Whether you're in your local park every day or hardly ever go, we want to hear from you.

This autumn we're running five community workshops to help shape Bristol's new Park Quality Plan. What you tell us will help decide how park quality is measured, how communities get a say, and how improvements and investment are prioritised across the city.

You don't need any expert knowledge. Just bring your experiences and ideas.

Bristol is full of people who love nature - and want to help it thrive 🐝

That might mean planting trees in a park, adding wildflower planters to your street, or transforming a disused patch of land into a community garden.

The challenge isn’t that people don’t want to take action. It’s often knowing what’s allowed, who to ask, and where to start.

As Natalie Watson from our Nature Together project put it: “Sometimes the challenge isn’t motivation, it’s navigation.”

And it’s not just communities who want to see more nature recovery. Bristol City Council workers are overwhelmingly supportive too.

But when decisions involve council-owned land, officers also have to think about safety, accessibility, and what happens if a project can no longer be looked after. Often, several different council teams need to be involved too.

That's why, through our Nature Together project, we’re trialling a 'Nature Permit' scheme - working with the council and local communities to make it easier for people to take nature action on council-owned land.

We’re exploring what a simpler, more supportive approach could look like.

Please share this invitation to the Love Stapleton Road community meeting, 24 September, with your friends, neighbours, colleagues and networks.

Everyone is welcome to this community forum, whether you are new to the area, have never been to a meeting or have come every time!

We will be joined by many residents, community organisations, local city councillors, Bristol City Council Officers and Neighbourhood Police Officers.

There will be updates from the Police and Bristol City Council about actions taken to improve the area in the last few months, and also a presentation about a new community nature project called Greening Easton. We will then vote on which issues we would like to discuss and split into different discussion tables, such issues as drugs, waste, youth activities, local environment. We will discuss local experiences, action plans, different solutions, and community actions.

Refreshments are available.
