The Matthew Tree Project have pioneered and perfected the innovative Food Plus model over the last four years, supporting circa. 2000 of the most vulnerable at risk citizens (adults and children) living in Bristol throughout 2014. Food Plus is a complete ‘wrap-around’ holistic model which seeks to empower people to move from crisis point through the journey, out of poverty and into a dignified, fu
lfilling and independent future. We are developing a city-wide network of Food Plus Centre’s strategically located in the most deprived wards throughout Bristol and South Gloucestershire so that our services are easily accessible to anyone who might need them. The Matthew Tree Project are also the creators of FOODTURES; a social enterprise vertical integration model of the local food sector and which includes food growing; food processing; food hub distribution logistics and a socially responsible food retail arm: ‘Community Store’. FOODTURES is all about bringing the very best food to the poorest communities in an affordable and dignified way whilst at the same time creating apprenticeships, skills training opportunities and good jobs that pay well and offer good working conditions for all throughout the entire food chain. FOODTURES, when fully established, will make a significant contribution to the upscaling of local food production, the reduction of food waste throughout Greater Bristol and the future food security for all the citizens of the city. Established in 2010, The Matthew Tree Project is a registered charity and community organisation here to serve our local community with your help. We believe every resident and visitor plays a vital role in the health, diversity, prosperity and well-being of our community and city. Our goal and mission, since inception, is to bring people and organisations together to solve problems and build a brighter, sustainable future.
