We are just a bunch of guys aged between 18 and 45 years of age, who get out out of the house every few weeks to do cool stuff.

Round Table is all about trying a diverse range of fun activities that you wouldn’t normally do or have the opportunity to do as an individual, with a group of people from different backgrounds that you wouldn’t normally meet. You can learn all sorts of new skills, meet new friends, all while making a real difference to your local community. It’s not just local — it’s global, with clubs in more th

an 65 countries, on every continent on the world. We’re just normal guys local to Downend, some with families, some without. We aim to have a lot of fun but also to put something back into the local community. Ever been to the Downend Round Table Fireworks Display? Hoping for a slightly more successful evening than our Christmas visit where we tried to watch Johnny Goodman () revive his comedy career…

Last Thursday we hit Laser Fusion and instantly reverted to overgrown kids 🤣

Sprinting around in the dark, shooting each other with lasers, laughing like idiots and pretending we had any tactical awareness whatsoever.

Stupid, sweaty, elite‑level fun.

This coming Thursday we are off to Laser Fusion 🔫✨

Expect a lot of running about, dodgy aim, taking it far too seriously, and plenty of shouting when someone gets shot. Should be good fun, a bit competitive, and guaranteed laughs all round 😄

This past Saturday we held our annual general meeting!

Before this we kicked off the day with Race Across the World (Bristol) 🙌

Teams headed out across the city to different locations, picking up clues, earning money by doing jobs, and racing to a final rendezvous point. Some teams smashed it… others got a little lost, accidentally stumbled into a few pubs, and unsurprisingly arrived late 🍻😅

The photos may tell a story of just drinking, but we promise there was more to it than that… honest.

Afterwards, we sat down for the AGM.

For reasons still unclear, our outgoing Chairman decided this was the perfect moment to make Bloody Marys. Half‑tipsy and doing our best (they were horrible), we drank our concoctions and got down to business.

During the meeting we looked back on the past year, discussed charity requests, and voted on donations to some very worthwhile causes using last year’s fireworks collection 👏

We then divvied out roles for the year ahead, some accepted graciously, others not so much (looking at you Ben) and officially passed the torch from Ed to Dan.

New year, new man.

We wrapped things up talking all about Fireworks 26 🎆 before heading out for food together to celebrate.

All in all, a very good day 🍽️🍻

This coming saturday we will be holding our AGM 🎉

It’s a big one, we’ll be talking all things Round Table as we set ourselves up for the year ahead.

From appointing our roles, reviewing charity requests, and officially handing over from one chairman to the next, it’s a key moment to reflect and look forward 🙌

We’ll be wrapping things up with a chat about this year’s fireworks 🎆 before closing the formalities and enjoying some well‑earned beers together 🍻

Here’s to another great year ahead! 🥂

The Unspoken Rules of Round Table

The first rule of Round Table is:
You ABSOLUTELY do talk about Round Table.
Because if you've found a great thing - why keep it to yourself?

The second rule of Round Table is:
EVERYONE is welcome to get involved.
You don't need tons of time. You don't need to be Brad Pitt or Ed Norton... You just need to turn up.

The third rule of Round Table is: help your COMMUNITY. From charity events to donating time at the local food shelter, doing a bit of good together is kind of the point.

And the final rule of Round Table: if you're looking for new mates, new experiences and a reason to get out of the house - Round Table is most definitely for you.

Last Saturday we went shooting! 🎯

It was Ian’s big aging‑out event, so we did what any good friends would do: we “retired” him.

Permanently.

With a shotgun.

(Somehow he made a miraculous recovery and joined us at the pub shortly after)

We split into two teams — Old Boys vs. Young’uns. Experience won overall, but Joe (firmly in the young camp) absolutely stole the show by smashing the most clays. 💥

We wrapped up the day by officially sending Ian off to 41 Club — the only place safe enough to handle him after his “retirement.” 🍻

Last Wednesday we absolutely crushed our local competition in the Area 12 go‑karting showdown.

Across two sessions, our elite squad: Henry, Lee, Ben, Ed and Steve put down an average time so rapid it left Thornbury Round Table, Bristol Round Table and Wotton Round Table wondering if their karts were stuck in eco‑mode 🤣

And yes, Lee walked away with the fastest lap of the night… after what can only be described as highly suspicious kart modifications.

Meanwhile Henry took the loss with total grace and composure, and definitely didn’t mention it even once afterwards.

Also worth noting: Ian didn’t show up for his promised head‑to‑head with Henry.
Poor show, Ian.
You’d have lost anyway.

With a team like this, we’re gearing up for a run more dominant than Mercedes 2014–2020.
Toto Wolff, call us. We’ve got drivers.

This coming Saturday (thanks to Ian’s excellent scheduling skills), we’re out shooting to help send him off to the 41 Club.

Bye bye, old timer 🫡

Hopefully no drinking involved… but let’s be honest, we all know how that usually goes 😭
