To celebrate her 100th Birthday, club President, Ian Joseph with Reg Bleaden attenden last week's Inner Wheel meeting and made a presentation to Pam Watkins.
Reg commented 'It was lovely to attend Pam's 100 birthday party. It was well organised by Inner Wheel and wonderful occasion was had by all of us.

The Club had a very full meeting on Monday. Firstly we greeted fellow Rotarians from Cotswold Tyndale Club and, follwing dinner, made a Community Service Award to David Beddow for his sterling efforts with the Upper Frome Friends Group, clearing rubbish and Himalayan Basalm from the Frome in and around Yate and Chipping Sodbury.
We then had a presentation from Richard Bush, President of Bath Rotary on the German occupation of Guernsey during WWII.

What we do know: Next river clean is planned for Sunday 15th February at 10.00am. What we don’t know: Will it stop raining?
No need to enter the river but bring gloves and wellies are advised for working along the banks. Look for details of where to meet (and updates) on the Upper Frome Friends Group page.

CHIPPING SODBURY ROTARY CLUB - REPORT FOR JANUARY

Over 80 members and guests had a thoroughly enjoyable evening at the club Christmas dinner on 15th December, held on this occasion, in Chipping Sodbury Town Hall. During the dinner club President, Ian Joseph, presented a Rotary Long Service Award to past member Barry Riley in recognition of the many years of selfless service he gave to the club. Also, Rotarians John Wells and Stuart Fraser were presented with Paul Harris Fellow awards in recognition of their significant contributions to our club and to the Rotary movement more broadly.

The Rotary Christmas tea dance was held in mid-December when over 60 guests enjoyed an afternoon of music, dancing, a free raffle and light refreshments served up by the ladies of Chipping Sodbury Inner Wheel Club and supported by the local branch of the Alzheimer’s Society. The next tea dance is scheduled to take place on Wednesday 28th January in Chipping Sodbury Town Hall. All are welcome. The event runs from 2 to 4pm but please try to be seated by 1.45pm.

Our January speaker was Emmanuelle Claverie from Citizens Advice, South Gloucestershire, who gave a very informative presentation on the excellent service offered to residents on a broad range of topics, helping over 5000 people in 2025.
