Bristol Salon is organised by Bristol Photographic Society which is one of the oldest photographic societies in the country and is able to trace its history back to the beginning of the last century. The Society caters for all levels of photographer, from beginners through to its growing band of internationally successful members, and meets every Wednesday evening at 7.30 throughout the year, with
a full and varied programme of visiting speakers and in-house competitions. There are several separate groups which meet regularly, covering such topics as Digital Techniques, Studio Photography and Aiming for Distinctions. The Salon is an internationally acclaimed exhibition, which each year receives in excess of 12,000 images from nearly 70 countries and which is the largest of its type in the UK. The accepted images form the basis of an audio visual presentation which is shown in Bristol and other venues around the South-West. Membership of the Society is open to all, but it is hoped that other photographic organisations will also be able to take advantage of these wonderful facilities. Full details about the Society and its activities can be found on their website, www.bristolphoto.org.uk.
