โ๏ธ Nes Gadol Haya Sham! A great miracle happened up there in the skies.
This week, a Flydubai flight carrying Israelis from Dubai to Tel Aviv came terrifyingly close to disaster.
The captain was violently attacked. The plane plunged thousands of feet.
And yet, through an extraordinary chain of events, the courage of the injured captain, the bravery of passengers and crew, and the presence of off-duty pilots on board, the plane was brought safely under control.
Everyone survived.
Call it remarkable. Call it incredible. I call it a miracle.
Had the story ended differently, G-d forbid, Jews around the world would have shared the grief. We would have said, as we always do, that the pain of one Jew is the pain of us all.
So when the story ends with a miracle, shouldn't the joy belong to all of us too?
And what does a Jew do when we want to say thank You to Hashem?
We sing. We make a Lโchaim. And we dance!
The timing could hardly be more fitting.
This Saturday night is Simchat Torah, the night when Jews around the world will take the Torah into their arms and dance.
In fact, in the very final words of the Torah that we will read this Yom Tov, Moshe tells the Jewish people:
โThere is none like G-d, O Yeshurun; He rides the heavens to your assistance.โ
What words to read after the miracle we have just witnessed.
So this Simchat Torah, we have another reason to dance.
To thank Hashem for the miracles we see and the countless miracles we never even know about.
To celebrate Jewish life.
And to pray for a year filled with many more revealed miracles, protection and good news for Am Yisrael and for all of us.
Please come and dance with us!
