Avon Scouts Scouting is about personal development through providing opportunity. We call this everyday adventure. They just call it fun.

Skateboarding, climbing, art, kayaking, camping, sailing, cooking, orienteering, acting, cycling, hiking, grass sledging, potholing... Scouting is all these things, and more. It encourages young people of all backgrounds, male and female, to have self-belief and a voice; to develop physically, intellectually, socially and spiritually.

🍳👨‍🍳 AVON SCOUTS COOKING COMPETITION 2027! 👩‍🍳🏆

🔥 Ready, Steady… COOK! 🔥

Calling all budding chefs across Avon Scouts! It's time to put your cooking skills to the test in the Avon Scouts Cook Off 2027!

Can your team whip up a delicious three-course meal, impress the judges and take home the glory? 🏆

📅 Sunday 7th February 2027
⏰ 9:00am – 2:00pm
📍 1st Keynsham Scouts HQ, Ashton Way, Keynsham, Bristol, BS31 2UF

🥘 What's the challenge?

Teams of 4 Scouts will have just 2 hours to prepare and cook a delicious three-course meal!

👨‍🍳 Scouts must be no older than 14 years and 6 months on 6th February 2027.

⏰ Arrive in uniform by 9am, ready to start cooking at 9:30am.

🌧️ Don't worry about the weather, the competition is indoors, so we'll be cooking whatever the British weather throws at us!

🌟 It's not just about winning!

This competition is all about teamwork, creativity, learning new skills and, most importantly, having fun! Every Scout should have the opportunity to get involved, do their best and enjoy the experience.

🏕️ Calling all 9 Avon Scout Districts!

We'd love to see one or two teams from every District taking part. Who will be crowned Avon's top Scout chefs? 👑

🎉 AVON SCOUTS THANK YOU EVENT, WE’RE NEARLY THERE! 🎉

We’re really looking forward to welcoming everyone who has signed up for the Avon Scouts Thank You Event at Woodhouse Park this Saturday! ❤️

It’s going to be a fantastic evening celebrating our amazing volunteers and saying a huge thank you for everything you do for Scouting across Avon.

A few important reminders before Saturday:

✅ If you’ve booked but can no longer attend, please cancel your ticket. We need to know exactly which adults will be on site, as well as having accurate numbers for food and catering.

🚫 Please only attend if you have a ticket. We need an accurate headcount for everyone coming to the event.

🌳 This is an outdoor event, so please come prepared for the weather. You might also want to bring a camping chair or picnic blanket to sit on and make yourselves comfortable.

Now all we need is some good weather, plenty of laughter, great music and lots of celebrating! 🥳

All adult member of Scouting and Girlguiding are invited to the Avon Scout & Guide Canoe Club AGM on Monday 21st September 2026 at 7:30pm at the Benjamin Perry Boathouse.
Join us if you are a interesting in learning more about the running of the club or if you are interested in becoming an instructor.

The County Sailing Section is running another “end of season” regatta for Scouts and Leaders who have passed their RYA Stage-2 / Level-2, or equivalent standard.
The regatta will consist of 3 races, run in a relaxed semi-competitive manner on the Bristol Harbour, with a finger buffet lunch and tea/cake during the prizegiving. Prizes for each race winners, best Youth Trophy and other fun prizes!

🎭🌟 AVON SCOUTS & GUIDES, WANT TO BE PART OF A GANG SHOW? 🌟🎭

Bristol South Scouts are getting ready for their 2027 Gang Show, and we’d love to welcome Scouts and Guides from across Avon to be part of it!

Whether you fancy performing on stage or helping make the magic happen behind the scenes, there’s a place for you. ❤️

17th–20th February 2027

Donald Road
Bristol
BS13 7DQ

🎶 JOIN THE CAST

To join the Gang Show cast, you must:

⭐ Be a member of Scouting or Guiding
⭐ Be aged 8 or over by 17th February 2027

Rehearsals will take place on Sundays, with some full-day rehearsals in January and February.

Until October, rehearsals will be held at:

Blenheim Centre
Blenheim Road
Bedminster Down
Bristol
BS13 7DQ

Further rehearsal dates and details will be confirmed as preparations continue.

Regular attendance is expected, except in exceptional circumstances. After all, putting on a Gang Show takes a whole team! 🎶🎭

🛠️ WOULD YOU RATHER BE BEHIND THE SCENES?

We’re also looking for adults to help with:

🎭 Backstage
👗 Dressing
🎬 Production roles
⭐ And all the other things that help make a Gang Show happen!

To volunteer backstage, you must:

⭐ Be 18 or over
⭐ Hold a valid Scout or Guide DBS

And importantly, you don’t have to be a member of Bristol South District.

If you’re involved in Scouting or Guiding anywhere across Avon, you’re very welcome to join us! 💜
