Our Youth Team recently took the young people we support on a camping trip in the Mendips. Here's what they got up to! đź‘€

Some had never been on a holiday before, a privilege many people may forget, so it was really lovely to see our young people learn new life skills, have fun in nature, and enjoy a break from the hardships caused by insecure housing and homelessness. 🏕️

A big shoutout to Tim, one of our amazing volunteers, who kindly offered our young people a chance to visit his beautiful site, The Batch Campsite. It goes to prove how important community is and the difference we can make when we show up for one another. Thanks, Tim! đź’™

Are you excited for the World Cup? Here's a way to add to that excitement!⚽🏆

Organising or taking part in a World Cup 2026 Sweepstake for Caring in Bristol helps us to provide essential support for those facing homelessness or housing insecurity in Bristol.

You can run a sweepstake a work, with your friends or family or with any group in the community. It all makes a HUGE difference!

Every penny raised will stay right here in Bristol, fighting against the homelessness crisis and providing essential support to those facing homelessness and housing insecurity.

For , we thought it'd only be right to share a spotlight on one of our amazing volunteers, Rita! 🌟

Rita has a long history of volunteering, including during the 2012 London Olympic Games. Her motivation is to give back to the community that has given her a home.

Born in Nigeria, Rita’s mother came to the UK and worked as a nurse. Rita studied software engineering at UWE, graduating in 2012.

Rita volunteers with Bristol Goods when she can, fitting it in with her carer responsibilities. She supports the food club and believes it is a great idea to help struggling families and meet friends.

Rita says that through volunteering, she has “met people that would otherwise be on the street... It’s a place for anyone to give up their time to try and support people.” 💙

We are very grateful for the time Rita gives us. If you'd also like to give back, join our volunteering team (link in bio)!

It's , and we wanted to say a massive thank-you to all our incredible volunteers! 🎉

Week in, week out, our volunteers show up to make a difference. From running our food clubs and supporting young people at our youth shelter to bringing people in from the cold during the Christmas period. They create safety, dignity and a supportive environment for people whose lives have been turned upside down by homelessness. Without them, our impact just wouldn't be possible. 👏

Thank you so much for giving your skills, time and passion for change. You show us every day that Bristol is a city that can! 🤝

Imagine doing your weekly food shop knowing that, for your neighbours, it’s out of reach. That’s the reality for thousands of people in Bristol, right now. 🍽️

Our Bristol Goods food clubs were created to change that. For a small subscription, members access affordable groceries and fresh produce with dignity. As well as relieving hunger, our team works with people on the bigger picture; providing housing support, advice and the confidence they need to stay in their homes.

And we do it using food industry surplus that would otherwise go to waste! 🌱

For many of us, payday is a good moment to ask: could a small part of what lands in your account help someone keep food on the table this month?

A one-off gift or regular donation goes directly towards keeping our food clubs running. If giving money isn't an option right now, your time as a volunteer makes just as big a difference. đź’™

Read our blog to see how it works, and decide if you’d like to be part of the change.

Food is a basic human right. But for too many in Bristol, this right is being unfairly denied. Not because food doesn’t exist, but because the systems meant to provide it are failing. 🍽️

Research* found that Bristol is home to two of England’s top 10 most deprived food deserts, where access to fresh, affordable food is severely limited. When feeding yourself or your family becomes a daily struggle, everything else quickly becomes harder to hold onto, including a stable home. 🏠

But this isn’t how it has to be. Broken systems don’t fix themselves, but they can be fixed. ⚙️

This , we’re breaking down what’s really driving food insecurity in our city, and what a genuine solution looks like. Read our latest blog and share this post so it reaches the people who need to hear it.

Right here in Bristol, every single day, adults and children are experiencing hunger. 🍽️

With World Hunger Day approaching, we wanted to use this week to explore the different ways that housing issues impact people’s access to good food, and how Caring in Bristol are pushing back. ✊

Many factors can leave a person hungry and without the resources to address it. People in temporary accommodation may have limited or no cooking facilities, or even the right equipment to make a basic meal.

“I ended up in a place for a weekend where you have a bed, a fridge, a cooker, but no cooking utensils. I had no stuff with me, so how could I go and buy pots and pans as well?”

UPDATE: Heat-SWEP has now been deactivated from Friday 29th May.

Due to the high temperatures in Bristol, Heat-SWEP* will be activated from today. The St Mungo's Street Outreach team will be out on the street covering extra shifts, offering water, sunscreen and harm reduction advice to people sleeping rough. It’s worth noting that Heat-SWEP does not come with an accommodation offer but they encourage people to access cool spaces away from the heat during the day.

*Severe Weather Emergency Protocol

See the below link for some guidance on who is most at risk from the heat and the best advice to give people in hot weather:

https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/beat-the-heat-hot-weather-advice/beat-the-heat-staying-safe-in-hot-weather

A reminder that StreetLink (https://thestreetlink.org.uk/start) is not an emergency service and if someone is in immediate danger, please call 999.

The team will announce when H-SWEP has been deactivated across the city or if there is an escalation in their response.

Because of supporters like you, we’re working across the city every day, reaching people before things become critical. We step in early: saving time, money, and heartache. Most importantly, we help people and families to stay in their homes and move forward with their lives.

But there's still so much more to do.

Could you help us? By giving a gift today, you can help stop someone from being pushed into homelessness tomorrow.

Swipe to find out what your donation could do (or click the link below). Whatever you can afford to give, your gift could help someone understand their rights, and find safety, stability, and a way forward. Thank you for caring đź’™

From all of us at Caring in Bristol, we want to say a HUGE good luck to these wonderful people today as they take on the Jurassic Coast Challenge and walking 100km!

Rob, as a dedicated volunteer over the years, and Shannon, our brilliant HR and Operations Manager, have each provided essential support for our work... and this challenge takes it a step (or lots of!) further.

You can find their fundraising pages in our bio if you'd like to support them along their journey and help our work to ensure everyone in our city has a safe, secure place to call home đź’™
