Scouts Narrowboating
Our Scouts enjoyed a couple Narrowboating day trips on the Kennet & Avon Canal in glorious weather, taking in the beautiful surroundings.
They gained hands-on experience learning to steer and working the locks as a team.
As they cruised along, there was also time for tea, biscuits, and a few games of cards, making for a relaxing and memorable trip.

This week we were visited by My Homecare Bristol, and Hannah, one of their amazing nurses came to talk to the Beavers about how they look after people in our Bradley Stoke community.

We planted our own seeds and created care plans to help them grow. Just like people need care, plants do too, and the Beavers really embraced the idea.

We even donated some of our planted seedlings to My Homecare so they can share them with the people they support. A small gesture we hope will brighten someone’s day! 🌱

A big thank you to our visitors, we’re excited to report back soon with how well our seeds are growing!

Over September last year, we ran a competition across all three Beaver colonies as part of their Space Activity Badge work, asking the Beavers to redesign the badges for our planet named colonies - Saturn (Monday), Mars (Tuesday) and Neptune (Thursday). Every Beaver created their own design and, once all the entries were in, the Beavers themselves voted for their favourites. The winning designs were then professionally redrawn and have now become the official badges that will be worn on 1st BSS Beaver uniforms!

A huge well done to our winners whose artwork inspired the final versions, and a big thank you to everyone who took part. The creativity and excitement across all three colonies has been fantastic to see. A special nod goes to Moana, our Deputy Lead Volunteer (Beavers), who ran the project and helped bring these new badges to life. We can’t wait to see them being worn with pride!

What a beautiful day our Cubs had for their sailing experience on the Bristol Harbour!
They had a fantastic time whizzing across the water, working together as a crew, leaning over the side to get the plastic ducks, and plenty of splashing along the way!
So many laughs and big smiles.

With the warmer weather starting to settling in, we made the most of it yesterday by taking the Beavers to West Country Water Park Lake for some time on (and in!) the water. With help from the Water Rats team, everyone got kitted up and out on the paddle boats for a mix of racing, ball throwing, splashing and giggles.

Then the Beavers took turns jumping in the water, some straight in, some taking a moment to steady their nerves, but all ending up with huge smiles and a real sense of achievement.

Big thanks to the Water Rats for supporting the session, and to our parent volunteers who came along and got in the boats with us.

Our Beavers are brightening up Bradley Stoke with colourful decorated rocks!

Our Thursday Beaver group were out yesterday, leaving their creations around the local paths for people to discover, and two more groups will be adding more next week.

Spot one on your travels? Let us know! We can’t wait to see where these adventurous little rocks end up.

Another Cubs Kayak pool session with the WaterRats, enjoying capsizing, learning some paddling skills and playing water polo. What is great about these pool sessions is they get to experience capsizing, being upside down and getting out. By the end everyone wants to capsize!
