Hosted by Marmalade Trust, Loneliness Awareness Week is the world’s largest campaign dedicated to inspiring conversations about loneliness and encouraging meaningful connection. 💚

Every day we see just how powerful connection can be. For many a journey with us offers more than just getting from A to B - it’s a chance to see a friendly face, share a conversation and feel part of a community.

Sometimes that small moment can make a really big difference. 🥰

Gary is not only a brilliant driver but one of our MiDAS trainers too! He's shared a bit about his volunteering experience:

'After almost 50 years working in the security industry, I decided as I neared retirement that I wanted to do some volunteer work and invest some time back into the Nailsea community which has been my home for the past 47 years. I had often seen the NDCT minibuses and following a moment of revelation one day, realised that becoming a volunteer driver would be a perfect solution. As I really enjoy driving and I enjoy helping people, what could possibly be better?

The reality has been as good as the idea, so I would highly recommend anyone interested in joining us to come and have a coffee and a chat.

As a volunteer driver, hours are really flexible, I decided that driving every Monday and Thursday would suit me best, although I will also volunteer for occasional runs on other days if the amazing team in the office struggle to fill jobs. I am also now a fully trained driver assessor to help others ensure that their driving is Safe, Legal and Comfortable.

I have thoroughly enjoyed my time thus far with NDCT and I look forward to the challenges yet to come!'

Thank you Gary! 😀🚌🥰

We are lucky to have some incredible trustees who volunteer their time to guide NDCT and shape our future!

Paul has been on the board for a few years now, he said: 'I find it hugely rewarding being able to help a fantastic community-focussed organisation, bringing the benefit of all my learning and experience in the corporate world to help NDCT grow and develop its services. Being a Trustee carries lots of responsibility, but it’s really enjoyable too.'

If you are interested in finding out more about becoming a trustee get in touch! 01275 855552 or [email protected]
