πŸ“£ NEW PARTNERSHIP ANNOUNCEMENT πŸ“£

We are so excited to share that Child.org has partnered with the incredible Neli & Co - a premium, plant-based sanitary brand founded right here in Kenya.

Neli & Co are on a mission to create products that are safer for families and kinder to the planet. And as part of their commitment to positive impact, 10% of profits are reinvested into sustainable health and sanitation ventures 🧑

Neli & Co have generously donated packs of their bamboo sanitary towels to women and girls graduating from Child.org's Team Mum programme in Narok, Kenya. The pads, to be used post-birth, are an expense many families in the Narok region simply cannot afford.

One of Team Mum's challenges has been ensuring women attend all seven of our Pregnant Women's Group sessions. Neli & Co's donation will help incentivise more pregnant women to do so; maximising on the support and life-saving information provided by the groups🀰🏾

Ruth, Nata and Constance received the very first donation at our Narok office in May, alongside Emmah and Mirriam from the Sub-County Health Management Team. And as you can see… they were overjoyed! The first packs will be distributed to Team Mum graduates in June.

Neli & Co and Child.org align brilliantly in our mission: both firm believers that every woman and girl deserves access to sustainable, quality sanitary products. Together, we're making that a reality.

Tunawatakia kina mama wazazi wote siku kuu njema iliyo na furaha na mafanikio!* 🌸

At Child.org, we're lucky enough to celebrate Mother's Day twice - once in the UK in March, and again today with our team in Kenya πŸ‡°πŸ‡ͺπŸ‡¬πŸ‡§

It's a small but lovely reminder of what makes this organisation so special: a team that spans two continents, but works as one to support and celebrate mothers πŸ‘©πŸΎβ€πŸΌπŸ‘©β€πŸΌπŸ‘©πŸΏβ€πŸΌπŸ‘©πŸ»β€πŸΌπŸ‘©πŸ½β€πŸΌ

So - for the second time this year - happy Mother's Day. Here's to all the mums out there - thank you for everything you do 🧑

*The literal translation of this Swahili sentence is: "We wish every mother and parent a happy and successful Mother's Day!" However, this translation is limited and loses some of the original meaning.

Happy International Day of the Midwife 🀰

A day to celebrate the incredible, life-saving work that midwives do around the world.

The theme of this year's is One Million More Midwives ➑️

Why?

Because globally there are not enough midwives to meet the sexual, reproductive, maternal, newborn and adolescent health needs of women.

With 900,000 more midwives, it is estimated that we could prevent 67% of maternal deaths and 64% of newborn deaths worldwide (State of the World's Midwifery Report) πŸ“‰

We spoke to Peninah, in Narok, Kenya, about her experience working as a midwife πŸ—¨οΈ

Child.org works with communities - and midwives like Peninah - to identify gaps in healthcare systems and develop locally-led solutions, as well as advocate for change from the government 🌱

Thank you to all midwives out there for your hard work, dedication and care 🧑

Our founders are running the London Marathon tomorrow πŸ‘Ÿ

Dr Dan Magnus and Dr Beccy Leslie co-founded Child.org in 2001 - and 25 years on, they're marking that milestone in an epic way: running the TCS London Marathon as part of Child.org's first ever marathon team πŸŽ‰

Together with nine other incredible runners, they're hoping to raise more than Β£40,000 for our work making pregnancy and birth safer for women and their babies across Kenya - where maternal mortality remains far above the global average, despite most deaths being entirely preventable.

As Beccy puts it: "Running the London Marathon is my way of celebrating how far we've come - and how far we'll go." πŸƒβ€β™€οΈ

We couldn't have said it better 🧑

🚨 Inspired to run with us? Applications for our 2027 London Marathon team open TOMORROW, Sunday 26 April. Head to www.child.org/london-marathon to find out more.
