So many worries race through young people's minds during exam season.

Here's some helpful things you could say to your young person to help them re-frame their anxious thoughts:

❀️ "I will love you and be proud of you no matter what your results look like."
❀️ "You're giving it a good go, and that's all that you can do."
❀️ "Exams are only a snapshot of your progress on a particular day - they don't measure everything."
❀️ "I can see you're anxious about your next exam - do you want help with prioritising what to start with?"
❀️ "You've been working hard for a while. Would you like to take a break and do something nice together?"

If you're struggling to know what to say to your teenager, know that showing compassion, and being a calm, stable presence can make your teenager feel more at-ease during exam chaos.

How do you know when you're stressed?

Some people, especially those who are neurodivergent, may find it difficult to identify when stress is building. Knowing what physical signs to look out for can help you to recognise when things are feeling too much, and nudges you to put things in place that will support your wellbeing.

If these symptoms are ongoing, and you don't believe them to be stress related, it may be worth booking a chat with your GP for some extra guidance.
