1 in 5 people in your workforce may be carrying hidden trauma.

Trauma from abuse affects 8.5 million people in the UK. It's a hidden force behind burnout, anxiety and disengagement — costing UK employers up to £56 billion a year.

As trauma specialists and a registered charity based in Bristol, we've created the Trauma-Informed Workplace Pack to help your organisation build awareness and genuine psychological safety.

A small donation provides you with copies of the pack, and directly funds free counselling for survivors of abuse and addiction across Bristol and the surrounding areas. Two good things at once 🙂

Suggested Donations:

0–25 employees: £100 · 5 copies
25–100 employees: £500 · 25 copies
100+ employee: £1,000 · 50 copies

Together, we can make workplaces safer and communities stronger. Get in touch to find out more or request a sample pack. 🧩

We're looking for a warm, caring and organised person to come and join the Active Recovery Project!

The team gives adult survivors of abuse the opportunity to take part in community-based activities. It provides a safe and supportive space for clients to participate in a variety of group activities with others who share or understand their experience and develop peer relationships, resulting in increasing confidence and reduced isolation. The activities are based on ideas from our members and include water-based activities (such as rowing, canoeing, sailing and kayaking), surfing, trips to community spaces and creative sessions (such as arts and crafts).

Our current Practitioner has said:

“The decision to leave this role has been so difficult, the team are so lovely, caring and supportive. In the role I have got to go surfing, walk alpacas and make a bowl on a pottery wheel. Sometimes I honestly can’t believe it’s my job. I have learnt so much and got to work with some of the most wonderful and inspiring people. There are countless moments at groups that I will never ever forget - some of my most amazing moments in life have come at work and that doesn’t happen very often!”

We value our team very highly and pride ourselves on being a supportive employer. We provide generous benefits to encourage every staff member to have a supported, well-rounded and enriched working experience.

We are an equal opportunities employer. Our recruitment is done in line with safer recruitment practices. We welcome people of any race, ethnicity, gender identity, sexual orientation, class, ability, language, religion and cultural background. We value the differences between people and affirm each person as an individual.

We provide unique support for survivors of abuse and trauma who currently have an addiction to drugs and/or alcohol. We offer 12 free sessions of one-to-one counselling which can be done in person or online.

We understand that survivors of abuse will often use drugs or alcohol to help them deal with their trauma symptoms. Sometimes it can feel like the only way to cope with life is by drinking or using substances. When these are taken away it can be a struggle to deal with emotions and feelings.

Our Nexus Counselling focuses on becoming more stable and reducing someone's alcohol or drug intake. It also provides support and practical strategies to help deal with anxiety, depression and flashbacks and will help someone to better understand post-traumatic stress disorder symptoms and related mental health difficulties.

If you are interested in Nexus counselling, please ask your drug and alcohol worker to refer you via the referral form on our website (🔗link in bio).

Once it has been completed, you will be placed on our waiting list. When you reach the top, we will invite you for an initial appointment with a Nexus counsellor. If the service is appropriate, counselling will take place after this🧡

Here is a little feedback from some of our clients in relation to our long term counselling service 🧡

Our waiting list is currently closed to new referrals. We are very sorry for the impact and the disappointment this may cause. We are working hard to ensure we work through the list as quickly as possible, whilst still providing a quality service.

Once we know more details on when our long term counselling service will be re-opening, we will post the details here, and on our website.

Thank you for your patience and understanding while we do our best to work through the waiting list, it is really appreciated 🧡
