Give it up for Ewan who has raised a whopping £4K for Alive, running the Bath to Bristol Railway Race last weekend! 💪

Taking on the challenge to fundraise for Alive, Ewan was inspired by his mum who is a member of our Memory Connections groups.

"About 2 years ago my Mum, Sue, was diagnosed with early onset dementia. Running was something that my Mum did all the time and was certainly an inspiration to me; running a marathon at 60 and doing over 300 park runs."

"Whilst I know how much my Mum is going through, it can be the people around someone suffering which are hit the hardest. Things like Memory Connections, that Alive put on, have helped my Mum and Dad meet people on the same journey, talk and confide, but also realise they are not alone."

"Donating to Alive helps keep these events going and provide a really invaluable service to dementia patients and their families."

Quadrupling his original target, we couldn't be more proud of Ewan.

We're delighted to have won at this year's Bristol Dementia Awards! 🏆

Celebrating the work that takes place across our city to support those impacted by dementia, we were honoured to receive the VCSE Organisation Award.

Our very own Mary Jones was also crowned Volunteer of the Year for her extraordinary efforts across so many of our community sessions over the past 7 years.

And congratulations to our friends at Bristol Care Homes, whom we nominated for the Residential Care Award.

A special thanks to Bristol Dementia Action Alliance for organising the event, to Joe Sims for hosting, and to Guy Manchester for capturing the ceremony so well in these photos.

It was a privilege to celebrate the contributions of everyone in attendance. Here's to your passion and dedication, and to creating such vital impact in the lives of those living with dementia in Bristol.

Our Dementia Meeting Centres in Bristol and Portishead are shaped by the people who attend. We’re looking for a warm, creative and organised manager to support members and carers, and lead our brilliant staff and volunteers.

We're thrilled to introduce our new Ballet for Wellbeing sessions and our first 'recital' at Avonmere Care Home - Avery Healthcare went down a treat! 🩰

Introducing them to our Empathy Suit Experience, we were honoured to be invited along to three Royal Star & Garter care homes in Surbiton, High Wycombe and Solihull to train 36 of their staff last week.

Offering compassionate care to forces veterans and their families, some of whom are living with dementia, Nicola was blown away by the relationship-centred care of the teams and delighted with the feedback she received:

"This training should be mandatory for everyone supporting people with dementia, whatever their job role."

"This training is amazing!"

"It is unusual for staff to ASK to be signed up for training, and everyone at the care home wants to experience the Empathy Suit."

Providing the unique experience of seeing their care home through the eyes of the people they support, it is always such a privilege to share the Empathy Suit - a huge thank you to Royal Star & Garter for having us.

Give it up for our latest Share & Repair superstar, Jane! Sharing her skills in resin jewellery making, everyone had a wonderful time and left with gorgeous gifts for themselves, family and friends. 💍
