Friends of Hotwells Piazza & Art Under the Flyover Friend of Hotwells Piazza/Art under the Flyover exploring creative ways of improving the Cumberland Piazza with locals and artists - please join us!

Art under the Flyover is a continuing programme of arts in the Cumberland Piazza to enliven and regenerate this iconic space. In the1960’s streets in Hotwells were cleared to make way for a flyover and the area underneath was re-designed by landscape architect, Sylvia Crowe. For the 2013 West Bristol Arts Trail artists with long term local connections have devised interventions to evoke the past

, present and future with media including print, poetry, video, audio, paint and stencil. In 2015 we painted the pillars and working with artists including Dave Bain and since that time we have worked with several more artists and local volunteers including Luke Palmer, Amy Hutchings and Mhairi Stuart on community led arts projects. In the future we'd like to see the space used more for live arts and events, so if you have any aspirations, get in touch via a facebook message, or e-mail [email protected]

If you haven't had a chance to visit yet it's open Wednesdays-Sundays 12-5pm

I'll be putting some apple saplings in planters at the Piazza soon, please contact [email protected] if you want to join in with some gardening. But if you follow this link, you can get involved in tree planting all over the place!

Over the next few months, Possible will be running a number of tree and hedge planting events in different locations across the country. If you're up for getting involved, let us know where you're based, and we'll make sure to keep you in the loop.
