Bristol University Conservation Group (BUCG) is a society of the University of Bristol which aims to improve biodiversity in the local area.

We are a fun and enthusiastic bunch who enjoy working in the great outdoors to help the natural environment.

BUCG is going back to Royate Hill Nature Reserve to do some volunteering! 🪏🌱

We’ll be helping the Friends of Royate Hill team do bramble clearing and deadhedging for their lovely reserve next to Eastville Park 🌿🍄

📍The Centre (C9) bus stop
We’ll be meeting at the bus stop at 10:15 to get the 48x to Royate Hill before walking to the viaduct to get to Royate Hill NR

Wear sturdy shoes and trousers and bring a waterproof in case the weather turns on us 🌧️

Get ready for this weekend’s BUCG and UBUC University of Bristol Underwater Club beach clean at Sand Bay in Weston-super-Mare! 🌊☀️

This beach clean won’t only help reduce the litter in our local environment, but the survey data we collect will go to inform the Beachwatch report by Marine Conservation Society on the condition of Sand Bay South and other beaches across the UK! 🐚

📍Temple Meads Station
We’re meeting at 10:15am at the station to get the 10:26 train to Weston-super-Mare, make sure to be there promptly and get your train ticket in advance!

Remember to bring water, lunch and the right layers for the day 🦀

🍎 Apple day 2026 🍎

Thanks to all the BUCG crew, volunteers and guests who came to this year’s apple day!! 🍏🐛

Even with the smaller harvest we still made a day of it enjoying the juice, c***r, games and sunshine ☀️

Join us for our watch party of the first screening of “How Deep Is Your Love” with the BUCG and Wild Swim Society! University of Bristol Wild Swimming Society 🤿

The documentary highlights the uncharted depths of the deep ocean, and the researchers behind its discovery and conservation, sure to be a beautiful and inspiring watch🪸🐠

Get ready for the first BUCG outing of the year! Join us this weekend for a lovely picnic and see some of Bristols famous Goats of the Gorge! 🐐🌿

📍We’re meeting by the Downs Water Tower 12:00pm 27th September, so don’t miss us!

Be sure to come stocked with snacks and water for the picnicking 🧁🍓 make sure to come with sturdy shoes, well dressed for the weather as we walk to The Gully 🌦️

*this event is alcohol free, bring vegan or vegetarian food if you can!*
