Arnos Vale is celebrating Love Your Burial Ground Week with an informal wildlife count—and you’re invited to take part.

Drop by our stand or the shop to pick up a recording sheet, or use the App to log the wildlife you spot and hear as you explore the cemetery grounds. Every observation you make contributes to a growing picture of the rich biodiversity that thrives here.

By taking part, you’re supporting a citizen science project that helps us build a valuable long-term record of the species that call Arnos Vale home.

🌟 Happy Volunteers' Week! 🌟

A huge thank you to our wonderful volunteers at Arnos Vale.

Last year, 232 volunteers gave an incredible 7,663 hours of their time to support us. From working in the shop and helping care for the landscape, to leading tours, carrying out research, transcribing records and helping sell Christmas trees, our volunteers make a real difference every day.

As an independent charity, volunteers are at the heart of everything we do. Their time, skills and enthusiasm help us care for this special place and keep it open for everyone to enjoy.

Thank you to every one of our fantastic volunteers – Arnos Vale wouldn't be the same without you. 💚

🚶‍♀️🚲 Getting to Arnos Vale just got easier!

The reopening of Sparke Evans Bridge reconnects a traffic-free route from Bristol Temple Meads and Brislington via National Cycle Network Route 3, making it easier to walk, wheel or cycle to the cemetery.

Did you know? The bridge is named after Peter Fabyan Sparke Evans (1826–1905), a prominent Bristol industrialist and philanthropist. Along with his brother Jonathan, he donated the land that became Sparke Evans Park for the people of Bristol. Peter is buried here at Arnos Vale—see if you can find his impressive memorial along the Long Path behind the café.

Pop into the East Lodge shop to borrow a free bug hunting kit, then head out to discover the hidden world of insects living around Arnos Vale.

🦋 Brilliant Butterflies Trail
Saturday 23 – Sunday 31 May | 10.30am–3.30pm
Drop-in • Free

Pick up a trail sheet from the shop and explore the cemetery while discovering different butterfly species, fascinating facts, and what to look out for along the way. Complete the trail and head back to the shop to collect your sticker!

Donations welcome and directly support the conservation of this unique heritage site, helping to ensure Arnos Vale Cemetery remains open for everyone to enjoy.
