A huge thank you to everyone who has signed up to help out at the Carnival! We’ve now filled 112 volunteer slots for Saturday, which is an amazing 73%.

We’re well covered for set-up and clear-up, but we’d really appreciate some extra help later in the day. Trying not to tempt fate, but it’s looking like we might even get sunshine all day 😎

So, if you're planning to enjoy a few drinks in the afternoon and could spare an hour or two on the bar or BBQ, we’d be incredibly grateful. Many of our core volunteers are already covering multiple shifts and working flat out throughout the day because, quite simply, they’re absolute legends!
Please note for the 2:45 slot you can just pop along when you get to Hangstones - you don't have to miss the parade!

If you’re able to lend a hand and help spread the load, it would make a huge difference and be very much appreciated. Thank you from all of us!

🎪 Carnival this Saturday! A few key reminders:

🎟️ Teddy tombola, bouncy castles & fair games will be token-only (£1 per token). Buy in advance from Thursday at 3pm or on the day.

🎫 Return raffle ticket stubs & cash to the school office by Thursday to be included in the draw.

👨‍👩‍👧‍👦 Parents/carers remain responsible for their children throughout the parade and carnival.

A huge thank you to all the parents, staff and community who have signed up for Carnival volunteer slots so far!

We’re now nearly two-thirds full on volunteer slots for the day, and we just need the final push to fill as many of the remaining spaces as possible. If you can spare just one hour, please consider signing up – every little bit helps!

We’re hoping for a fantastic day. As always, the weather is unpredictable and we’ll adapt where we can. With British weather, who knows – it could even be snowing! 😂❄️

We’re introducing a new token system this year. The YSA-run fair games, bouncy castle and teddy tombola will all operate using tokens, reducing the need for volunteers to handle cash or process card payments. Details will be sent to parents as to how this will operate in the lead up to Carnival, tokens can be purchased at the event.

We hope this will make things easier for parents and, crucially, for our volunteers. So, if dealing with money and wrestling with card machines was putting you off volunteering, this is your chance to get involved and help make the - hopefully much easier - new system a success!

Yeah so - about the teddies..... 🧸
Libby went a bit crazy on saving ALL the teddies in Yatton and now we have enough 😂😂😂😂
This is not all of them! 😳😳
We massively appreciate everyone who has donated teddies for our teddy tombola but I think we now have enough. We can probably take a couple of small bags, but no more than that.

🌟 We Need Your Help – Carnival Volunteers Urgently Needed! 🌟
We need you! 💛
So far, we only have 66 volunteers out of the 154 needed to make this year’s carnival happen. That leaves a lot of important roles still unfilled - and we’re running out of time.
We urgently need people to help with:

🎈 Bouncy castle supervision (our biggest gap!)
🍔 BBQ – serving and taking payments
🎟️ Other activity stalls and general support

Many of these roles only require 1 hour of your time, and some need 2–3 volunteers per slot, so you could:

Sign up with a friend
Bring along a responsible teenager to help out

👉 Without enough volunteers, we may have to close some activities, which would be really disappointing for the children who look forward to this event every year.
Our committee has been working hard since January to make this happen – now we just need a little support from our community to bring it all together.
✅ Please give just one hour if you can – it will make a huge difference!

These are such important jobs that help the whole event run smoothly — and they can be great fun too! Why not team up with a few friends and share the slots between you?

This event is run by the community, for the community, raising funds for all the lovely sparkly bits for the children and the school ✨

Who are the YSA? Please meet the team.....

Hi, I’m Fran. Alongside my job as a freelance animation & VFX artist I volunteer for YSA designing the programme and all print materials for the carnival, fireworks and other YSA events. I’m on the committee organising the yr6 leavers disco this year and volunteer at various YSA events throughout the year. I also help out in the school where I can with art projects & reading.

I have a daughter in year 4 & a son in year 6.
